i dont understand why everyone who posts a punk thread ends up talking about how great dropkick, rancid or the casualties are. i mean broaden your fucking horizons people. you oi pollois stickin it to the man with your hot topic gear. thats the way.

fuck, havent any of you heard of johnny thunders? dead boys? maybe even a little more recognition of the ramones. and theres still plenty of other greats. but cmon thanks to you assholes i play metal. congradulations.

Your talking about new underground bands. The reason we talk about NoFX, Rancid and the casualties is because they are golden. I could talk about Dayglo Abortions, Subhumanz, Real Mckenzies, Guttermouth, Bigwig, Real Big Fish, Les Loubards and you will not even know who im talking about

too bad the shit i named isnt new its from 77 and reel big fish guttermouth and subhumanz arent undergeround at all. they all suck d anyways.

I'm pretty sure almost everyone knew every single band you just listed there. Guttermouth? (They are on Nitro for crying out loud) Reel Big Fish? Subhumanz? Dayglo Abortions?... Big Wig? Are you serious? You think these bands are 'underground'? 'small'? Think twice friend.

ive never listened to any of those bands youve listed but i certianly know punk. and who the fuck cares, rancid, and all those other bands are the biggest and most well known punk, so no shit there gonna get mentioned more.

last night i went to this musicians showcase that they have monthly in my town, two of the bands that played were punk and i have to say i literally wanted to inflict pain upon the members of these bands, ive never seen such stupidity in my life, all of them were complete ass holes, breakinig shit on state that wasnt even theirs. not to mention they had no musical ability whatsoever, i think i saw about four chords played the whole time. the lead singer says " this is our song for all the homosexuals out there, its called faggot love song". I would have rather sat through the most ghetto rap concert then this, i just don't understand it. i do think some punk is alright though. the clash rules

The creator of this thread needs to mind his own god damn business. I thought the whole point of punk music is to listen to what u want and fuck anyone else who tries to tell u whats cool. Let em be and let em listen to what they want.

i agree with you on the fact that there is alot more different punk bands out there then The Casualties or DK or Rancid. I listen to a variety of different punk artists and i still like those three bands and people can relate to them so why not talk about them? i could talk about Rule 22 (not Catch 22),Assorted Jelly Beans, Sunday Church Riot, Bad Brains, CH3, Chocking Victim, Drexel, for example.

No, the problem with punk rock is you're trying to have a discussion about it, as opposed to letting it inspire you and letting it do whatever it wants to others. If you want to hear about really sick bands, go find a scene site, not newschoolers.com. It's not the same vibe, son.

I used to be really into the punk scene, but you know, its gotten too corporate and I started disliking most of the music

dont get me wrong, the Dead Kennedys and Dead Boys and Ramones are awesome, but they are all headed in the wrong direction. The dead kennedys sued the lyrics and credits off of jello biafra and too many corporations are getting way too into the whole punk scene and making new emo, trashy as shit bands

i was just sick of it and I stopped listening

realpunk= the casualites the unseen subhumans the knox 26 beers broken cuffs dropkick murhpys before they sold out a global threat minor threat and reagan youth any body got a problem fuck you! oi oi oi!

If you still have the same opinion on metal, you should listen to some real metal. Tool and Opeth have some of the best lyrics in any genre of music, and to clump them in with shitty metal bands like Metallica is just stupid.

Real punk rock has a meaning. The casualties mean shit, they are a bunch of faggots now. They were once cool, but now they are too main stream. Good bands = A global threat, subhumans, the restarts, old unseen, oxymoron, oi scouts and so on.

Was someone above referring to Reel Big Fish as an undergound punk band? They're not even punk, they're third wave ska. This thread should've stayed dead.

how about operation Ivy, some may consider them ska, some punk, i say skunk ( a combo of the two) they were quite influential and how about minor threat?

I dont understand how its that people cant get their head around this concept. Its simple, different people like different kinds of music. Statement closed.
