Ok, me and my gf and my best friend always have this discussion. Is there a deffinate difference between rock and punk? They say not really but I can easily tell. I love rock and I hate punk with a passion. Why do you think they are different?

i can tell the difference very easily. if you can't go listen to the ramones then led zeppelin but umm i can't really describe the difference since i don't play music. but i can tell the difference ha

well this probably isnt true, but i would say that punk is faster and less organized sounding. idk, if you listen to the second to newest bad religion cd (a punk band) it sounds like rock to me.

some rock kicks ass but most of it is the same old shit thats played on the radio time and time again .. punk is way difrent .. alot of skreaming yelling the stuff that gets you pumped .some punk is like rock but not for the most part .

The plain truth is that the general term 'rock' is actually a genre of music that includes punk. Punk is a form of rock. I know a bunch of people are gonna flame me for 'labeling my music' but you have to be more specific than just rock. I mean I know what you're saying....but still. Classic Rock and old school punk really aren't that different. It was all about loud music, but punk just had a bit of a different message. And cheap sex is good!
