before you read this go look at the picture in the people section of the chick with pink hair (posted by frost or something). I started to respond but i got too pissed off with the lot of you and decided to just make a thread 'cause my rant was getting a bit long. enjoy.

i'm sorry, but some of you guys are fuckin' idiots. you can be 'punk' and still not be a goth or have liberty spikes. how can you fuckin' say she's a poser? who in their right mind would dye their hair pink if they didn't actually like the punk scene? OR - maybe we are all fucking dumbass's and her fav colour is pink and that's as far as it goes. But all of you people who (i'm presuming) consider yourself 'punk' and trying to say she's not - you should be ashamed of yourself. how is it 'punk' to hate on people for no reason but the fact that they arn't hardcore goth's?

take me for example. i am in a way a hippy because i don't care much about stuff that affects me in life, i'm dirty, growing my hair, and listen to everything from hip-hop to techno to punk to metal and everything in between (i kinda like that stupid 'boys' song by britney spears - it's got a good beat to it...). BUT at heart I am and always will be a 'punk'. I steal and break shit for kicks, don't give a fuck about what others got to say, I'm not a religious man at all... not even the slightest bit. No, I don't spike my hair (not even for show's - even though I could make a kick ass tri-hawk with it), I have no tatto's, no piercings, and I don't wear plad.

and now - those of you who say she's ugly - you guys have really high standards and probably can't live up to them yourselves. (I have (or had) a friend like that - he had really high standards with chicks, but he himself was not popular, not very good looking, and because of that he ends up turning down or just turning off the chicks that he can get - resulting in him being a 18 year old virgin who gets absolultly no play). The chick in that picture is not ugly. she's not the hottest, but she's got some cuteness to her and (guessing from her having pink hair) is true to what she believe's in. now if she was a bitch it would be a different story... but i do not know her and therefor i can say no more about her or that subject.

and while it's on my head - one thing i can not stand in people is not knowing where you stand in an environment like highschool. you know the types - people who think they are cooler than they are? don't try to be something you're not. be true to your friends, don't backstab people, bro's before hoe's, and lastly - believe in yourself and your belief's and you'll find your own group of really good friends.

i don't consider myself punk, i used to years ago, but i was a total poser (so maybe i lose all credibility, but whatever). i don't think she looks punk, cause she really doesn't. just cause you have pink hair, doesn't make you punk. when i think of punk, i think of good ol sex pistols, dead kennedys and the like. and you said something about goth and liberty spikes, goth and punk are two completely seperate things there sonny. but i think that the clothing is a big part of punk (leather, spikes, etc.) she is pretty, don't get me wrong, but definately NOT PUNK

i know many of those points were directed at me for the comments i wrote about her, i was joking, it may have sounded prejudice but it was referring to the general stereotype most would think of as punk i know thats not the only punk culture and by no means was i saying she was less punk or anything, she's probly cool as, or maybe a total dick, but its just peoples's opinion, i find that it is very hard to express your personality on this, so most comments i write are the first things that come to my head after reading i say what i want, and sometimes its sarcastic sometimes serious and sometimes just plain fucked. may sound ignorant or even arrogant depends on how i feel, this probably applys to many on here, so who the fuck are we to judge each other on this unless we are close friends, fuck dude your on the otherside of the world its kinda hard to show personality on this, whatever you say on this SOMEONE is going to challenge it.

so just go with the flow accept what people have to say and what angle there saying it from (if you know).

telejibber, i can see your point, but i kind of disagree with the concept. in society today, i dont think you can really say something is 'more punk' than something else, just like you cant say one teacher is 'cooler' than another. you may know somethign in a sense that makes it seem cooler, or 'more punk' but that doesnt mean its the other way around for somebody else. judgements are overrated, people have started to take them way to seriously, along wiht their status in society, and its so not getting them anywhere. like i said, i can see your point, but i think your concept is totally off... quizzing people on what they think? is there really a right answer? shouldnt be... but then, is there even a wrong answer?

no seriously chains and spikes dont make you punk, nor does pink hair, they make you a part of some group that dresses like that, i dont know there fucking name because they claim to be punk, im not saying they are not but punk is by no means expressed through your looks, its a mindset and an attitude

and what is the mindset? well it definately does NOT involve breaking shit and stealing, i dont know where the first guy got that from, punk is basically a unity amongst induviduals who seek to be a unique person and find self-fulfillment individually without the influence of mainstream society, well thats how i think of it anyways, trying to be yourself and not having to do what other people do, i think that is a pretty decent IDEA (because i dont really know how to define a mindset) of what the punk mindset includes

you can also be involved with the punk community in which then you can be described as a punk, but really you are trying to be indiviudal so you don't really want a label, so therefore you can't really be punk, so you can be 'yourself' and therefore the terms 'punk' and 'individuality' are interchangeable (in a sense) which eliminates the need for a label.

These two fags at my old high school were like that. They would be like 'does my hair look punk enough?' and shit like 'you're not punk cause you dont dress like one'.

The one fuck would take his Blink 182 CD and try to make his hair the exact same as the fucking guy in the picture. And when you would tell them that Blink 182 or any of those other pop-punk bands blow a fat ass cock they would be like 'your a conformist, look how you dress, your just a conformist.'

this is the one i vote for. i have been active in local gay rights/union rights/cut back on military for a while. i got kicked out of my political science class in high school because the ceiling tile i made had a soldier with no face shooting a gun into the air with an inverted flag for the background to show my distaste for military involvement in the middle east.

i listen to punk, i dress how im comfortable(which is by the way a t-shirt and shorts from local winners or skate shop), i go to punk shows, wearing my normal clothes, i act normal, speak normal. its a type of music. who cares what other peopl dress asy or do? why waste your time telling other people what they are or are not. if they are a poser, who the fuck cares? its their life. maybe they want to be a poser. don't insult someone for being who they want dudes. leave be and let live. who gives a shit. honestly, no argument. bottom line is dont be a jerk, especially over music, ive been there thinkin i knew it all, its no fun to lose friensd over what music you listen to.

I am so tired of all this 'oh, if you actually dress punk, your surely not becuase then your just being part of their group'. Well did you ever think that punk is'nt rebeling against being in any group, just being part of the mainstream society that does the things they don't like. If you dress the same, act the same etc. as your friends that support the same thing as you and you agree with them, I would love to be associated with that group. And thats the reasoning (in my mind) behind all the 'punk clothing' (besides the fact that 99% of it is very practical and cheap), why not associate yourself with the music and people you like and agree with?

I'm not a fucking punk, and i will be the first one to admit it. I tell everyone to fuck off, so fuck you. My hair is in a mowhawk sometimes, and i love to fuck stuff up. Why? because it is fun. But i am not a fucking punk, fuck off. My favorite band is the sex pistols, and i love the clash and the ramones, and most of the music i listen to is punk. So fuck off! I hate you all. I think fucking anarchy is a dumb concept and will kick your hippee ass. I do what i like, but i am not a hedonist. I don't dress like a punk because 1. I am not one

2. It is not comfortable.

3. It is hard to skateboard in combat boots.

Yeah, Anti-Flag's songs always just seem like folk style lyrics and stuff put over the top of punk riffs, given I like this. But it does seem more at home in the more folk style then straight out punk. He also seems to put more feeling into the songs (atleast the studio recordings) when he's alone like that.

Everyone tries to conform to a group. Even if you tell yourself that you arent trying to conform to a group you are. You are conforming to a group of people who try not to conform to groups. Nonconformists are essentially a group of people who try to not-conform. Therefore if you try to be a non-conformists, you are essentailly conforming to the non-conformist group. The point Im trying to make is that all different personality types and sociological classifications are divided into groups. Who cares what group you are in. As long as you like whatever you do.. its your life, do the fuck whatever you want and dont bitch about other people.

That's why I fucking hate bands like 'brubeck' - they don't contribute anything. They played a show with us and wouldn't help with anything or let anyone use their gear. They expect us to do it all. Like they think they're fucking rockstars or something. Fuck that. GRASS FUCKING ROOTS MOTHERFUCKER!
