My friend was at the mountain the other day and he overheard the guy who develops the park sayin that if they see someone jump off the side of a lip to a rail they get a warning and if they do it again theyre gonna pull their pass for the day... i think its a great idea and will be hilarious to see teh first gaper that gets it pulled.. but what are your opinions on this new rule
 
well.. our parks biggest jump is like a 20 ft gap so the features never get too intimidating.. and theyre gonna make some tiny jumps somewhere off to the side of the park
 
word, the progression park does nothing to stop noobs and gapers from wrecking the main park. As for the mini pipe, I know what you mean, some kids just have to sit right at the drop in point, and when I call my drop I get snaked, god people don't seem to know what "dropping" means these days, then some instructor I know came and bitched at them all, five seconds later, there is another group of kids sitting right at the drop in point. I think that pulling passes for jumping of the side of the lips to rails may sound severe but it's after a warning so it's pretty lenient.

I also think that when people get their park sticker at the entrance to the park the people giving out the stickers should also mention some park etiquette, not only don't sit in the landings of jumps but also don't go off the lips up to rails.
 
I think this is kinda stupid idea but at the same time a good idea because some times i go off the side to see how mutch i have pop to get on the rail just as a test
 
i think that this si a gret idea because were i ski the people that do this arnt trying to learn jumps they are all renters or young kids and most are school groupsthat have never skied and have no interest in getting into the park scene
 
funny story about this. the other day the park crew guy was scraping one of the lips onto a down rail, and he laid his rake down on the side of the lip, while he used his snowboard for one tough spot. Well this 25 year old guy comes through, yells "excuse me" like the park crew guy was in his way, then proceeded to ski right over the rake. He caught an edge on the rake, and like flipped over the lip. The park crew guy just looked at him and politely said "when you see me with a rake, it means the feature is closed, so do not do that again". It was classic
 
if theres a small park w/ small jumps then i applaud this rule. however i usually get only slightly annoyed when gapers go off the sides of takeoff unless they have already been told by the park crew not to.
 
i wish they would enforce this rule at my mountain... i had this happen to me soo many times... also i would have people rolling over the 45 foot jump and just breaking down the lip.. it pissed me off...

For example i call drop in and start to head down towards the 45 footer and all of a sudden when i hit the lip there was somebody that fell that the bottom since they rode over the lip and fell... you couldn't see this before or i would have waited.. i don't wanna hurt anybody..lucky nobody did but as i go off the jump when im spinnin at like 360 i notice that person and that landing and im like in my head saying 'FUCK!!!" so i stop rotation and she quicly moves and i ride over her pole... and then the dad like 15 ft below starts to give me shit for riding over her pole??? making me to be the dumb person..? i understand we gotta be safe in the park.. but how am i suppose to know that somebody fucking cut across the bottom of our jump and fell at the base of the landing.. hm... kinda hard... it was rediculous and im like w/e i dont give a shit.. and then the park crew came over and yelled at the guy and told them to not go in the park anymore...

i wish we would have a rule that if you can't ski safely and under control down the SuperPark that you shouldn't be allowed in it and if ski patorl or park crew see anybody they can cut ur ticket.. but i would say warnings 1st just so they know the rule cuz most of those fucking morons dont know what there doing wrong so..

i say enforce this rule but give warnings and if it still happens cut there passes
 
thats why there needs to be a beginner or progression park then make a park pass for the larger park, then the problem is 99% solved, and park etiquette is a great idea but would be hard to imply seeing how there are hoardes or people entering the park at one time
 
This is exactly what we have at COP, a progression park at the bottom of the hill, and a main, larger park that requires a park pass shown upon entry. However, when you receive initially receive your park pass sticker all they do is tell you the size of the jumps and warn you about the risk, nothing about etiquette. The problem is not 99% solved because we still get little kids and gapers who are completely disrespectful.

haha yeh, I little girl tapped out of the pipe the other day, scared the living shit out of me, I was so worried bout the little girl, after I figured she was alright, I freaked out at the mother who was skiing behind her.
 
we have a huge prob with out of control skiers hiting the sides of jumps because are park is right next to the bunny hill. one hit my snowboarder buddy. i think i flipped a shit
 
i think it is fine as long as the dont snake you....that pisses me off...it also makes me mad when the go threw the park and role over the landings while all the little kids are following the dad like a ski school line.....i see that alot...dad could get there kids hurt...people need to read the easy style sighns before entering the park
 
thats a perfect example why all the little kids who think the park is a bunny hill or something should not be allowed in right there
 
that helmet tap was insane if only he was about 8 inchs lower he would have broke that girls neck that wouldnt have been fucking good...I would fucking love this system at my home mountain...even though mountain creek switched there park to south you still get ton of gapers and they ALL have to ride of the lips of rails and I have seen a new trend where they stop on the lip to "catch there breath"...I told this one guy that was about 16 and im 14 so dont say Im picking on a kid becuase hes older, to fucking get off the lip and if he does it again and he gets in the way hes gonna have trouble...he purposly does it to piss me off on the rainbow and I just get my snowboarders freind and I fucking closeline him and he clears the rainbow and hes sitting in the little ditch at the end of it trying to get his skis and my freinds take his skis and bring them down to the bottom of the trail....rough I dont fucking think so but I can tell you he will never ever do it again after a mile walk down
 
thats awsome...if that rule was enforced at my hill, the park would be pretty much empty 90% of the time. I took a little ski trip last week to vermont and Mass. and at jiminy peak in Mass., they knew how to run a park....to even get in the park, you needed a special park pass...such a sick idea
 
its not a problem at my mountain. we have a super little park, then a pretty small one, then the main park, and only people who know what they are doing go into our park. i havent seen 1 gaper there all year. so the progressive parks really work.
