Pulled Muscle Maybe in Leg

I may have pulled a muscle in my thigh today while getting my ass handed to me on some slalom skis; any tips on how to quickly recover? I am drinking water, took an ibuprofen, resting it, elevating it, will ice it, and maybe compress it.

I just want to be out on the hill as fast as possible.

Thanks, +K to useful stuffs.

You got it covered. RICE the shit out of it and wait til it feels better. I'd give it at least a week before you go skiing again, cause there's more potential of you re-injuring it in a worse manner.

yeah dogg you just got to take it easy for a couple days then start to ease back into exercising.

@7springsprod$

A week? Yikes. I hope not. :(

@Olimar$$

Will do. I will get back in the gym soon to help prevent further injuries.

@SFB

Of course. I will get on that. Rusty spoon or flaming chainsaw?

It's different for everybody. That would have been my personal minimum days out before skiing again. I don't know your body though. I don't like to aggravate my injuries at all.

It's all about the P.R.I.C.E.S dawgProtection, Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation and Support.

I learned a lot of good shit doing a mentorship with my school athletic trainer.

ice it, stretch it, take some time off. i don't like to take too much time off though. when it feels good enough go skiing again but go easy on it. it's kinda like dynamic stretching (?) like lunges and squats that stretch and strengthen. plus it strengthens the other muscles n gets the endorphins flowing and all around movement/activity is always good.

just know your limits

wait until it doesnt hurt at all anymore and you have full range of motion, then start doing some exercises for your leg to get it up to par. dont fuck around with pulled muscles, some of mine still bother 3 years after i pulled them

Yeah dude easily a week off. If not more. Pulled my quad during track season last sprng and there is nothing worse then thinking you are good to go again and then pulling it again right as you try to actually use it again. Sorry. Im a little drunk. And by a little I mean a lot. #just rest that jawn piece. Take out the spaces by your self.

just needed to say that you should NOT stretch a pulled muscle.

a pulled muscle, or a strain, is a partial tear of the muscle fibers. if you stretch it further you will not help the healing process. Only after the injury is healed should you begin stretching, that is part of the rehab process.

no stretch it.

Stretching will encourage the body to constuct muscle fibers in a linear manner, making the area stronger. Obviously stretch lightly (dont put yourself in pain, that is dumb), but lengthening the injured area 72 hrs after injury is beneficial.

big ups to this dude taking advantage of his schools AT. Good for ya, athletic training is fun, hopefully you are considering studying that in college.
