i'd probably go with a puffy. they're pretty comfortable. i have just a "shell" siver jacket and i live in reno, but i'm pretty sure it's colder in colorado.
My opinion, no if it's going to be your main jacket, yes if you have a good tech shell (20k or better) for when that's better. They're especially useful if you ski a fair number of pow days.
if you ski in weather thats less than 10degress F on a regular basis...puff is sweet. i have that as back up for the really cold east coast days, and for when i rock out in AK.
i reckon non puffys look sicker. so many more options and u can get cammo and stuff. i have a few puffers and a few non puffers and like the non much better.
puffy is awsome, I have last years obermeyer regulator down, it is really toasty, I live in MN land of no snow, only Ice, and its a really good jacket, i have yet to be cold in it
