Public transportation in Lake Tahoe

Lookin to do a ski bum season, and strongly leaning towards Lake Tahoe. Will most likely have to fly out there, but could possibly pick up a cheap car in the meantime. Just wondering if there is a bus system or something that travels to the resorts, any input would help. Also would you recommend North or South Lake Tahoe, for a 20 year old kid whos looking to have a good time and ski/board a shit ton.

Well... you would have been good getting shuttle busses from the Reno casinos to all the Tahoe mountains. But in the middle of last winter they stopped running them midweek due to lack of ridership (or at least the Mt Rose one stopped running midweek.) The shuttles aren't really that cheap either.

Its sort of a pain in the ass to do this without a car. I did it last year when my license was suspended and basically rented a car for a day once or twice on huge powder days and risked being pulled over.

I'd just drive out if I were you. If you don't drive then I dunno...

yeah probly easier to live in south lake without a car then in north lake without a car. Bluego is pretty good.

All the resorts in South Lake (Heavenly, Kirkwood and Sierra) all have shuttles to the mountains. Plus there is BlueGo for public transport in So. Lake.
