Public, private, or boarding school?

whats ur preference. ive always wanted to go to public school but my parents are nazis about getting a good education. i liked my private school but had a fallout and now im at boarding school and it seems chill, but it feels like im missing out on highschool. if you could be anywhere where would you be?
 
i like public, because its sort of gives you the experience of a "regular" high school life. like parties and drama and all that bullshit.
 
I went to charter but now im in public so its good. My lil bro goes to a private catholic boys school, how much lower can you get?
 
I went to public school. Really wanted to go to prep school for lacrosse but blew out my knee and didn't have the grades to get in on those alone.
 
my take is:

private: smaller enviroment, better education, more attention and support to the student, more work, more independant kids, upper class childhood, higher expecations, you can get expelled and suspended for stupid stuff, you have a bigger reputation

public: bigger social life, parties, diversity, chillness factor, school spirit, easier, less attention, more independance

boarding: closer friendships, mini-college, harder work, solid reputation and legacy, dorm setting, roommates, school spirit
 
semi private. u can get in from anywhere, but its a catholic high school and it cost an ass load.

especially if yur a presbyterian like me and they consider you and infidel.
 
i go to public school but i went to private school for two says this fall before i bitched to my dad to go back to public school.

Private(hebron academy)- lacks attractive girls

Public(oxford hills comprehensive high school)-has more attractive chicks than than hebron and i go skiing 8th period. My principle got pissed at my on friday, he didn't think it was fair that i went skiing when i was supposed to be in study hall and told me it was the last day i was skipping a valueble study hall to go skiing. I think i'm going skiing at 1225 tomarrow though.
 
i think it would be nice to try boarding school.

kinda be awa for a bit, meet new people, maybe some who are alot more like you or something.

im bored with public high school.

its the same old fights, the same old shit going down.
 
i went to both public and private schools. both were ok, i dunno. college is so much better then high school anyway.
 
i go to a private all guys school. I think a common misinterpretation, which has been stated in above posts, is that there is no social life/parties. I don't find that to be true at all. Rather than going to a public school and being around the same girls everyday, I have the pick of almost every private girls school in my city. Every party I go to, I meet new girls froma different school. Im not saying that doesnt happen at public school, but I think most people think that at a private school you have no life, which isnt true at all
 
yehh thats how it is for me.

partys are the shit and you meet friends from all over the state and stuff. partys all over and the public chicks love private guys
 
nah i've been to both, and the private school kids party just as hard. probably cause most of them are LOADED and have ridiculous houses to party in

haha its so true, I heard at this one party, the kids parents were at one end of the house watching TV and stuff and there were like 150 kids on the other side of the house, and the parents had no idea
 
when i was in high school i went to a public school. it was great. we were in a very good area, not sketchy, so it had the touch of a safe high school, yet it was public. not that things can really be that 'unsafe' in a high school in ottawa....haha..but nonetheless i enjoyed my high school.

a few of my good friends from my childhood went to boarding school and they've had some interesting things to say. however, i also have friends who went to catholic schools, and hated that. i mean, it really has to do with your own taste. and what school in particular you attend. not all public schools are the same. for example mine had an IB program, which i was in for a while, and only one other public school in the region had this program. the rest of the schools with IB in my area were all private schools. i was fortunate enough to enrich myself in the IB program and feel challenged. so i was lucky.

some public schools are terrible, even here in canada we have some pretty rough high schools. and schools where teachers dont care for their students or how well they do...etc..my school had incredible teachers that really pushed me and helped me explore my own potential. not all kids are that lucky.
 
Id rather go to a public school than my gay private school. And a mountain academy would be sick so i could just go skiing whenever i want.
 
i went to a boarding school...and it was a great experience... true, there were some truely miserable times, but its made me into who i am, and thats a stronger person

wow, i should be an inspirational talker...then again, that might be sam adams talking.
 
Yeahh son representin Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA. I dont know what you guys are talkin about sayin public school kids have better parties because its not true. Private school kids are all cokeheads and lover their drugs and alcohol. Therefore the parties are dope and so are the girls. Although the rules at school kind of did suck.
 
I've been to them all. 3 schools in the last 4 years. public for the first 2, boarding school for 1, day private this year

in the end theyr all school and its always gona suck waking up early everyday for that

public was chill cause no one cares if you leave campus or where you go and there was lots of hot girls, lots of parties but it was way too much homework like 4 hours a night and like 6 classes a day and i couldnt find a single other kid who skied and got really old quick

boarding school was sick at first. having your friends living with you 24/7 was fun, stay high all the time, dont have to deal with parents or even talk to them, ski every day. problem was staying up to 3am everynight watching movies and blazing didnt work so well with the school part and a lot of us would fall asleep in every class and feel fucked up and tired all the time

private school. where i am now typing from this beat english class. Almost no homework and the only hot girl is mine but they keep such close watch of me and are probably kicking me out in a week because I refuse to take a blood test every week

 
Im at a private school, I get to ski everyday 1-4, and it has kicked my old public schools ass so far.
 
public, and id kill to go to a different school, even another public school. im so sick of my school, ive been with the same kids since preschool, it sucks.
 
jesus christ, you want drama? go to a boarding school! everyone knows about everyone else...and living within such proximity of each other make the amount of drama exponentially greater.
 
I went to public school, which in my country (england) means I went to a private boarding school. I started at boarding school when I was 7 and I love every fucking minute of it.
 
i went to public schools up untill highschool, and now i go to all boys catholic school. i got so sick of public school, seeing the same kids for 8 years, so going to a new school and only knowing about 10 kids was a nice change. all guys has its ups and downs, we do share the busses with an all girls catholic school and they stay at our school for the first hour of the day and then come back after school. it does have its advantages how i don't really care how i look when i go to school.

and i've met more girls then ever, with like my 5 best friends, they all live in 3 different towns, so i have girls in my town, and girls in their towns.... oh yeah and the parties are dope, rich white kids with big houses throw the best parties ever.
 
ya i go to private school. it kinda sucks sometimes, but other times it's alright. the only bad thing is how my parents bitch about messing up cuz thay are paying 10,000 a year or something like that.
 
i go to a private boarding school and i like it a lot. im not a boarder, but i still live on campus cause my mom teaches here, so i kinda have the best of both worlds cause i live at home, but still at school with everyone else. its nice cause u always get to hang out with your friends, and its easier to get with girls. everything is just there for u to do, so i like it a lot
 
I go to public school. It's worthless. I hate it. My school is like mental disablity heaven (some of them are cool) The gifted students are screwed because all time is put into the slow kids. We have a 30% college acceptancy. Most of the teachers suck. It's a waste of time. I'm applying to boarding schools in Mass. Hopefully I'll get into Milton but it means no skiing.
