Public Enemy's mounted too far back???

Had a question for you guys. I saw that lady in the picture you guys were making fun of w/ the Public Enemys & bindings mounted towards the back. The scary thing is, my bindings were mounted about that far back too. The catch is that I have Fritschi Freeride (alpine touring/downhill/lift heel) bindings and I do 60% park & 40 % backcountry/offpiste/skinning. How much of a difference will it make having my bindings mounted towards the back like hers? Will I really lose that much freestyle capability? There is no way I can mount my bindings dead center if that is what most of you guys do(I have to stay up in Alaska powder). Any info appreciated.

Tim

ps: forgive my ignorance to skiing... I'm a hardcore whitewater boater & freestyle/backcountry has become my crossover sport for the winter up here in AK. Check out my site for some sik whitewater kayaking pics...

they are fine. as long as your tech went by the guide lines on the skis you should be fine, anywhere behind the lines and they are probably gonna ski real weird, not hold you in a turn at all

Fear causes hesitation and hesitation causes your worst fears to come true

buddy, put your boot in your bindings, and look at the centerline of your boot (its a small scribed mark on the bottem of your boot) then campare that to the marks on the ski, center, plus 1, plus 2, and so on. IF your mounted 0 or more, your find, if your behind center, consider remounting.

But clearly those are like plus 1 or 2

ummm that sounds good, i'll have that.

dark helmet : if there is one thing i despise it's a fair fight

I like the comment about the thong and the pants. Very nice!!

I like the boots. The skis should be fine as long as the boots are dead on. If not take em back to the tech and let him know he screwed up.

The freerides are BADASS!! You will love them on your pistols. The bindings were professionally mounted at Pinnacle Mtn Sports, so I'm sure they did it right because their the best techs in Anchorage. They're positioned about like the Public Enemys in the picture on this thread. They're worked awesome in the deep powder last weekend.

just mount your skis where it is recommended. they tell you to mount them there for a reason, it isn't like the manufacturer doesnt know what they are talkin about.

~BDP 2004~

But virtually none of the pros have it at exactly recommended, and everybody disagrees about where they should go. It's all about personal preference, but it's very hard to find your personal preference when you can't move the bindings around a bunch.

the new Fujatives go up to plus 7, so crazy.

the public enemys have the normal binding setting. on the side of the ski you will see markings that go forward and backwards 3 centemeters. most pros that i know of mount there PEs 3 cm forward+. when i origonally purchased mine i had them mounted on the normal setting. they performed decently in the park and were great all mountian. after i snapped them in half i mounted them 3 cm forward, they seemed more stable, went from edge to edge faster, made switch much easier, made butters, true tails, and basically all park stuff easier, but took away a small amount of the big mountain. in powder i noticed i had to lean back a little more than im used to, and they didnt take crud and speed as well. i highly reccomend setting your PEs at 3cm+.

i mounted those at +2...and it lookslike enough tail for me

When I got my skis, I thought they were too far back aswell. I stared at them for hours trying to talk myself into accepting where they are. I thought I would ski on them once before I really decided. I did just that the other day and absolutely loved where they are. So a 0 mount works perfect for me
