So i just accepted my offer of admission to PSU. ill be starting fall of 2010.

Who else attends / will be attending? how shitty is the skiing situation? good freesking / skiing / snowboard club? tell whats good and whats bad about PSU.
 
what campus are you going to? Im appying but idk if ill be able to make get on to the main campus...

and to the other guy, I wish, but I can't have a car as a freshman and that's a fuckin haul to get to jay haha.
 
oh, are they cool with longboards up there? when i visited i noticed how big the campus was and it would be nice if they were longboard friendly. i didnt see any signs that said you couldnt so im guessing its ok.
 
^i live there. campus is pretty cool with long boards. closest skiing is tussey which sucks, but it works for the weekdays. some sick urban there. cool snowboard club, often they organize carpools to boulder which is the best.
 
I have heard really good things about boulder so I figure I'll be spending most of my weekends there and tussey for the mid week fix.

oh and if needed I've got a cabin about 10 minutes from 7 springs, so free lodging for up to like 10 people if a trip to the springs was made.
 
got into main as well. im kinda nervous about the school its big as fuck so idk waiting on more acceptances i got into drexel too but not sure about that either
 
Hahaha, you are not talking about Plattsburgh State University I suppose? :)

There'd be decent skiing options if you were. And no car restrictions either. It'd also cost about 4 times less.

So I wasn't really helpful at all, sorry
 
I'm at main now. The campus is big, but it doesn't take much to get used to. And when you sign up for housing, ask for West or South dorms. East is awful and far away from everything.
As for skiing, as stated above Tussey is really close but pretty awful for anything but dicking around. I'm trying to instruct there this year.
 
I'm in Mifflin (Pollock) now and it kicks East's ass. Maybe YOU were the one I saw a few weeks ago..I know there's a handful of NSers out at main

I always end up seeing random ass kids walking by with level 1 shirts and shit. Outrageous.

Anywho, congrats buddy.

Also....if you reaaaally want your car up there like I did you can rent a space off campus. I'm paying 60 bucks a month and it's worth EVERY penny. I'm a freshman and I use my car soo much. Plus people give me money to drive them home and I am oookaay with that

 
It's really not as big as you'd think..it's amazing how many people you start to recognize just because you walk by them every Monday/Wednesday/Friday haha.

Also to the OP, there's actually a longboarding club I'm in that's legit as hell. The guys are really helpful. And there's a ton of longboarders out here, I'm seeing them more and more every week it seems..
 
Possible. I have a green My Friend Is a Pro shirt. I'm in Stephens in South now.
And a car would be extremely helpful. There is a bus that goes to Tussey but it takes like 40 minutes to get there and it would take about 10 to go by car.
 
my sister lives in the mifflin pollock dorms and is a freshman too. i had jerad drop off some skis i bought, with her a couple weeks ago at pollock so he might have been the one you saw in the afterbang shirt. what floor do you live on?

Hold on a second, ALL of you go to Penn State and You're all in IST? What the fuck? I've been spending as little time as possible in that building for the past 4 years because I thought all of the people were Human vs. Zombies weirdos, and you all ski and are on newschoolers? This is seriously hard to believe.

We should have a Newschoolers meeting in the java cafe above the road. Now that is something I would have never believed would be possible at Penn State, let alone in the college of IST.

I was convinced the only other Newschooler in IST was Jeb - and we went to Highschool together so that really doesn't count.
 
Senior? Do you happen to know Mitch Palski? He's a senior in IST.
I'm in engineering. Another alternative to a 3.5 year plan is what I'm doing, the 5 year IUG program, where you graduate with both a Bachelors and Masters.
 
I had NO idea other than ben. That's actually really wierd, it's such a damn small college. Most of the IST kids I see carry nerf guns..
 
Yeah I'm a senior. I'm pretty sure I know who Mitch is, I know I've had class with a Mitch in IST so I'm assuming its the same dude.

Anybody have any ski movies they'd like to share? I have Everyday is a Saturday and Refresh on a flash drive I can give people and I have Contrast on DVD. Just let me know...
 
ya man, ive been wanting to see those movies, but i only have older ski movies to share. i have corduroy, road to nowhere, enjoy, ready aim fire, shanghai six, ski porn, photo play, turbo, UP1.2, wski106
 
Eh, don't worry. I applied in August and heard before Thanksgiving, and a friend of mine applied at the same time and didn't hear until January, while people that applied later found out earlier. It really does seem a bit random..

I have Believe and Idea (I think, can't find Idea at the moment). If anyone has Blizzard of Ahhs or any other old Greg Stump movies I'd love to have them.
 
im waiting to see how many people from my school are going to penn state to put down a room mate request but if theres any freshmen going in that would want to room with another skier i would deff consider it because so far only 2 other kids are going from my school and i wouldnt really want to room with them.

just puttin it out there.
 
haha its all about meetin a total stranger. going with somebody you already know kind of makes you sick of the other person from what ive heard. but yea id be down to chads gap it up with a fellow broseph

too bad ski patroll blew up chads gap though.

ill deff keep my options open so let me know if you end up going to PSU because i deff want to room with someone else who skis.
 
i'm a senior at main however i am NOT an IST, supply chain major haha

however I do ski with jerad, jeb and zook.

I chose not to go to main and rather go to Behrend. Plenty of riding close and still a sweet school. I'm not knocking on UP at all though. Place is mad legit. The only problem is Tussey. My friend that I used to instruct with now teaches Snowboarding at Tussey. He cry's himself to sleep every night for having to ride there...
 
Who? I teach skiing at Tussey, so I might know him.
And Tussey isn't really all that bad. It's tiny, but its relatively steep for its size and location. Of course, this is my first year here and I've heard this is the best year in a long time.
