how many of you are in PSIA? i just got my level one and am looking into vermont, do those places give out good discounts? also i know there have been posts on this but to get park and pipe certification, do you just take the course that PSIA offers?>

I'm Level III (no joke) and the park and Pipe cert was a little odd this year. I was there for the first part, and I guess the 2nd and 3rd didn't happen. There wasn't that much interest in it (I think 8 of us took the first part). Anyway, its a good program, still young, and needs a lot of work, but take it if you can, it was a lot of fun and there were some really chill people there too.

^what did you do for level 2 and 3? cause after level 1 they specialize in a certain area

yeah, i can join the PSIA and pay them money. but i'm 16, so i can't get any certification. kinda lame. i'm going to (hopefully) get level 1 in 2 seasons when i'm 18......

i only did it so i would be qualified to build a jump and be covered under seperate insurance then the hill

yea im an instructor and i wouldnt get certified for 2 more years and i can stand the job so im quiting

aoe, PSIA certifications only have specializations for disipline (nordic/alpine/adaptive), at least in my division (PSIA-E). For Adaptive level II and above you need some specialization because of the breadth of adaptive programs. And Bangor, as far as I knew at 16 you could get level 1, but not higher until 18. I know PSIA-E also has programs now for people under 16 who are interested in becoming ski instructors (I think its called ''15 below'' or something). But I will admit, if you are not serious about teaching PSIA is not the right route, it does cost money, and if you do not feel that your money will not be werll spent, then don't spend it. I know plenty of top notch instructors that have either given up PSIA or never joined. Me personally, I joined because I wanted to attain something that could carry a certain appreciation where every I might go.
