PSA: Wear a Helmet

I was the biggest anti-helmet person for a long time because I thought they all looked stupid and never fit me well. Well today, I screwed up on a 3 over about a 10 foot table. Landed at 270, caught the downhill edge and slammed into the landing. I am 100% sure my head hit the landing. I consider myself pretty lucky to not have a concussion. So, right after I got off the hill I spent the next two hours trying on over 20 different helmets. I ended up with a Giro G10 in white. Fits perfect with my crowbars, and looks sick once I tried it on with my goggles and jacket.

For those still not wearing a helmet, imagine the idea of not being to ski for the rest of your life because of a skull contusion or other head injury. Like I said, I didn't wear helmets for the longest time, but there are plenty of options out there that work and look good. There's really no excuse not to.

but alas, everyone falls. I've almost gotten knocked out just falling down WHILE wearing a helmet. You don't have to be goign huge to hurt yourself.

Exactly......I was anti-helmet for the lonest time also (skiing for 20yrs now....dam I'm getting old), but I just got one at the start of this season b/c I relized there's no point in the risk. It makes me feel safer about going bigger now too.

-Message for everyone-

Take the time to find a helmet you like, hey you can even find one that looks sweet w/ ur outfit.

-Great thread man

I bought a R.E.D. helmet last year after hitting a rail pretty hard. I got a concussion, was out for five minutes, and got taken to the hospital. That was when I realized I'm not gonna f*ck around with that kind of thing. Get a Helmet!

It's pretty funny nowadays. About 75% of the people on the mountain are wearing helmets, bu no one is in the park. It's really just stupid not to. You're risking your life every day because you look slightly more stylish wearing a beanie? Ignorance.
