Proving teacher wrong (test question)

Hey guys, need help to settle a dispute between me and my auto teacher.

on our test, we had the question "________ law states that: when __________ is applied to a ________ fluid, pressure is _______________ and undiminished througout the system."

for the last blank, i wrote in the word 'constant'. my teacher says that the proper word is equal, im saying that using constant instead of equal means the same thing. if there is 50 pounds in one area, that pressure will equal the pressure anywhere else in the system. Im saying that the pressure in one area will be CONSTANT throughout the whole system.

he let the word "even" count for a mark as well.

so ns, what do you think?

in this question, is constant a valid answer?

con·stant/ˈkänstənt/

verb. equalize - match

Close but not the same. Better to learn the difference at school then to learn it in the real world.

Constant doesn't imply even. The pressure is even or equal throughout the system, but saying there is a constant pressure is only saying there isn't an area without pressure; the constant pressure could also mean the pressure varies throughout even though is stays constant. The teacher should give you half a mark since it's obvious you know what it means, but I wouldn't accept 'constant' for whole marks.

saying that the pressure is constant implies that it remains unchanged and is not influenced by the pressure that is applied ...saying that it is even or equal implies that the pressure in any point of the system is the same => if you apply pressure x on one point of the system, it will be the same for every point of that system ...

Constant implies that it can never change. The correct answer is equal, because even if the pressure of the system changes, it is still equal throughout the system.
