Prove yourself before you enter the park...

I think it would be an awesome idea to have a test jump before the entrance of evry terrain park. that way if you couldn't pull something good on the test jump you wouldn't be allowed in. It would sift out all the little kids. Which we hate. It would be only hard core riders that made it.Do you know of any mountains that do this. I think it would be ultra cool.

yea just put a 70 foot gap with spikes and fire and a tiger so if you dont clear it you die, but if you do clear it you can ski the rest of the park

the problem with the test jump idea is that 75% of the kids on here wouldnt get into the park.

don't forget the pool of flesh eating sharks in the gap...but yah, there should be like different ability level parks, that's what the kinda have at copper. on one side of the park is all small jumps for the little kids, in the middle is like intermediate, and the other side is the huge jumps. so it separates the different levels. i like it, it's a good idea.

that is probably the most rediculous thing ive ever heard...no offense..but how in the hell would anyone get good enough to go in the park, if they couldnt ride it? i think everyone should be allowed in the park. and we dont all hate the little kids. we all used to be one, so ya...i just wish we had a park...

I skied at the canyons in utah all year. what they did to help was put in a 'baby park' It helped to ease congestion really well.

No theres a prob...if your good and want to practice you do not want a kid getting in your way, but if you not good, how do you practice if you can't use the park??????? Well besides the ovious (begginer and advance park) Why dont we look at the real problem! Ski Schools taking hords of kids into the park and pipe, not teaching them, 'dropping In' or any kind or rules. They teach them from the begging to just go in...which normally would mot be that bad but when you just cut right in and do not have ANY clue, then theres a problem...well that my 2c take it for what its worth...lol ride on!

look at whistler and snow summit for a good example of how things should be everywhere...

theres a superpark that you have to pay to get into as well as sign a waiver to ski.. and then theres the regular park..

this is all that is needed to seperate things. it gives beginers a chance to get better, and it gives the better skiers a chance to ski a bigger park with no interference.

4 months ago i would have said no way should beginners and advanced riders be seperated, however a collision with an idiot at the end of the season left me very fucked up so now i say get em outta there.

I am not dong the grabs because I am getting a thrill out of touching my ski-JP Auclair

Some Kid: But you hit me over the head with your pole!

Ski Instructer: I was just demonstrating how wrong it is.

yeah...im totally against that idea....maybe like just keep stupid little kids out by telling them alot of horror stories. like totally freak them out and then if they dont go then they shouldnt be there anyways cuz i dont wana see someone year after year doing some stupid-azz grab. theres this one guy at my park that goes so huge but he just does a mute or some stupid grab like a million times in a row. he's bunk.

now say there WAS some kind of test jump, i'd have to say you'd make them do like certain grabs in certain distances across the jump and if they didnt, this huge wall of like fish guts and peanut butter springs up and absorbs you...cuz that would totally suck.

AND, i don't think little kids' parents should be allowed to come into the park for no reason other than watching their 5 year old not even clear the landing... The parents take up so much space

if you do that, then the people who aren't good will never get a chance to become good

ya! im all for this idea.. it should be a 90 foot gap to a 120 foot rail.. and you have to land on the rail to get in, cause there is an endless pit after the jump, so if you dont clear it or miss the rail you die. and there should also be like a guy with a shot gun at the lift to shoot you cause it the stupidest idea in the world.

lol. yah, when all those little ski school kids go in the superpipe it's a problem cuase it takes like 10 mins for them all to get down it. but it's cool with me if they stay on the left begginer side of the park. its just them pipe that bothers me.

It's called a prk pass, Blue Mountain and Whistler both use this system. It keeps the day skiers out cause they dont want to sit around for 45 mins watch the video and get the pass.

And it keeps the little yetis out cause if yer younger than 18 you need a parents signature. There's nothing wrong with little kids in the park either, alot of little kids are pretty good actually.

It's the same with 5 year olds as with 35 year olds if they blow.

Yeah The Canyons put in a baby park, and if there are kids just sitting around, the park maintnece crew just steps in and tells them to go try that out.

kirkwood has a baby park, a regular (very small) park and a restricted access superpark. the problem is there's only one sucky halfpipe. they need a restricted access superpipe. that'd be sick

no signature

I'd like to see the expert park put in more places so the little kids dont come in there. I like Whistlers expert park because its so sick and its all good riders in there. Keep a small to medium sized park an then have your super park for the sick kids

Is it cheating if the girl is from another country?

Some one please help !!!

they have huge signs here warning of serious injury, saying advanced skiers/snowboarders only. that keep most of the little kids out, if they hit it and they stack every one yells at them and they cry and dont hit it again.

Yeah you guys are right...if you can't get in then how are you going to get better? Excellent point. And I'm sorry, i don't hate the kids, its just really annoying when they don't even make it up the ramp and slide back down and spend half an hour trying to get their skis back on in front of the jump. I guess seperate terrain areas for kids and beginners would be a pretty good idea. Peace.

I think that the idea is great of different level park however i dont think that they should be restricted. In my eyes if there is a beginner skier they will most probably not want to go into the expert park bcuz they feel more intimidated and it is not fun to try and hit jumps above ur level. I think that it shouldnt be restricted bcuz if you want to ski powdeer all day and stop by the park once in a while you shouldnt have to pay 15$ for 10 minutes in the park.

haha at the death ideas. nice . keep em up. i'll build it!

yea, as derek and matt said - whistler, blue mountain, and snow summit have park passes. at blue you gotta watch a video (parents must be present if you are under 18), sign a waver, than show your park pass every single time you enter the park... doesn't keep the little kids out, but keeps the hardcore yeti weekenders out... if a person snakes you than you just get the park tech's to kick the person out if they are dangerous... it also lets the hill build bigger and better jumps/rails, etc... every year while other hills (especially in canada where a lot of the hills were told by their insurance companies that they were not allowed to have jumps) have a smaller and crapier park every year due to law suits and whatnot.

Resorts just need to regulate their parks. At Stratton they have a patroller standing at the top of the first hit of the 'pro park'. If there are little kids just sitting around he asks them to leave if they're not going to hit the jump. He offers them options of going to the other beginner parks. This seemed to work pretty well when I was there.

Cheers
