What do you think skiers need that hasn't been done? Can be anything, from a new zipper location to a entirely new system of getting up a mountian. Just post what you think would be cool or needs to be made. Who knows, maybe enough people will like your idea that you might consider making it?

For a start, and to get you guys thinking, heres one I had today:

So, filmers like having a steady base to film stuff off of, right? Most people use a tripod or just a simple pole that is telescopic. I like the whole one-pole camera stand idea, cause its lightweight and stores easily, but I think you can make it better. Someone needs to make some sort of joint piece that has three holes: One for the telescoping camera mount, and two that can adjust to fit stabilizers we all ski with - Poles! With this basic system, the camera can be supported and you dont need to lug a tripod around to get a good shot, making this the new best friend of filmers everywhere. Besides, if you're filming, why would you need your poles anyways? Use them, cut down on your pack size and weight and just get the tri-jointed thing that will link them all!

i like condom beanies, some one needs to make like rasta, or like neon and striped condom beanies

I would have to actually drive to lakeridge then a shoot you if you would wear it.

Im a quick draw bitch

What about maybe a digital speed check that the cops sometimes put out on roads, where it measures your speed? Put it right next to a large dangerous jump, have it flash if you are under or something?

i dont feel like explaining the whole mechanism i thought about, but how about integrating magnets in your boots and in your skis instead of bindings. You can crank up the electromagnetism for din, and you'd always have a reliable release in any direction. It would also give you great ski contact, and it would be SOOO much lighter

Rental snowmobiles + driver on a big mountain.

Make a giant vacuumcleaner and vacuum(sp?) all the mountains never skied, and dump it on various skiing places over the world. I've had that thought many times..

goggles w/ HUD or heads up display that show speed and altitude or whatever u want like in fighter jets so u could speed check or what ever u need it for

i thought it would be sick if you had all of the big jumps in a line to the point where somebody with a lookout post could sit at the bottom of the lane and see all of the jumps landings. and then you could put up a stoplight (without yellow, i guess) and then set it right next to the jump. then, the person in the lookout post could swithch a lever or something to turn the light on each jump green or red. that way the approaching skier/snowboarder can know if the landing is clear or not.

it would kind of be tough though because like at my home mountain, the stoplights couldnt be permanent, and it would have to be wireless (wires going down the hill would be gay). it would eliminate the whole "oh shit i just got landed on" situation. it would have to be a pretty busy park, too.

sorry about double posting, just wanted to clear up that the magnet idea is good, it just has a few problems with it. A portable snowblower would be a good idea when you are hitting a bc jump and the landing is tracked out, just spray the landing with new pow. There is quite a bit of problems with that though.

Jacket Airbags so that when you like overshoot a jump u can push a button and the jacket inflates like an airbag to soften the impact

Helmets with a built in line that goes to your camelbak?

Integrated Boot/Binding systems: You buy a boot that has a plate in the center, attached at only two points, which are pegs that go up into the boot. Its designed so that you can blow out in any direction, just like the magnet idea, but the pegs keep your foot locked in until the appropriate amount of stress is eerted, which you can change via some control on the boot itself. The platecan be drilled into the ski just like any normal binding can. Eliminates the large heavy bindings, less injuries because you can lose your skis in any direction/force and would be cheaper, as you dont have to buy seperate bindings and boots anymore. Plus, with each boot designed the same way, you dont have to slide the bindings forward or back to ride your friend skis for the afternoon if you have different sized feet: Your din settings are on your boots, and the pegs fit all (new) boots!

i think that things are going to get lighter, and better

id say

-stronger edges

-longer life for flex

-better power straps on boots

that's a sweet idea, and for the cables if they set it up in the summer then they'd just get covered up with snow... only problem is the mountain payin people to sit there and work them...

I've always wanted to have a jacket that, instead of having a zipper go staight down the middle of the torso, had a zipper going down the left side of the torso (offset).

a jacket with an integrated Avalung. This is the best invention for the BC besides the transmitter. It sucks that you have to wear it outside your jacket. A jacket that has it built-in would be awsome.

they have backpacks that do that. their made to keep you on top of the flow during avalanches. really smart idea, although their like 800 bucks.

just thought of this one. haev no idea howd itd work.

have a backpack, with minimal storage room, but the rest of it should become a really big air bladder cut into two sections that at the beginning of your run one would be filled with air. when you get caught in a avy, you hit a switch and through a nozzle like the avalung, you breath air from your backpack. oh, im makin this up as i go along. its a two way valve, so you breath in the good air, and start to fill up the other with bad air.

good idea. yet that leaves you with no storage room for your gear. now that i think about it, its kind of like a scuba tank.

waaait. no. the whole bladder could be filled with air. then you could breath out into your tiny death hole. as long as you keep breaitng from your pack, you haev no problems.

Off of Tanaka's idea, maybe a jacket that zipps up on both sides? Or maybe we should bring suspenders back so we can wear absolutely rediculously huge pants.

not a bad idea, but due to weight, speed for hits vary. for example, someone who weighs 100lbs needs a different velocity to clear a gap than someone whos like 180 lbs, so a speed thing would be cool, but deadly if you relied on it. too much room for error.

That's why they're going to have a chart at the top of each jump takeoff (where everyone waits) with all kinds of info on how far it is, how much you have to weigh, and how fast you need to be going. that's when the speedometer will work. trust me this will happen. especially when jumps are 100-200 feet in regular parks.

but then again jacket airbags will also be an option at this time. ha

he's right. it would just be more difficult for the lighter rider to get to the "clearing" speed then the fatty.

titanium ski edges.

and the stoplight idea is kinda cool, but can take away the flow of a course, makes it seem more like a ride and not a line, know what I mean?

Haha, I got it then. Theres a scale at the top, with a wind meter connected to it. It feeds the info of your weight, approximate windspeed and wind resistence (you choose between speed suit to baggy-ass on a screen at the top to rate your own resistence) into a computer, which predicts the speed you'll need by simple physics. Then the radar detects your speed throughout your drop into the jump, and flashes red if you deviate from the predicted speed at all.

i thought of this in like grade 8...

becasue of all the edge problems that people have with rails...they need to invent a way to have the edge moving....i thought of a way by using memory foam(elastic), or even magnets(just thoght of literally 5 seconds ago as i was typing this)...you could have the tip and the tail stationary so that it isnt totally floating...(or even could have the whole edge floating)...they edge could be made so it was stiff enough to not give out when the rider was on their edge...btu soft enough for when the disater a huge nasty rail that their edge does not explode everywhere...it isnt to take away all of the strain on the edge...just some of it...this would increase the long lasting edges to withstand even more punishment from todays top athletes.....i have a few idears about how it would be contructed/made.....might possibly just end up being a jib specific ski...still has room to be built on though.

Recently on a thread that Nomensteven made, i thought up an idea of a pipe cutter, being able to pivot from side to side, as the cat drove down the middle of the pipe, allowing it to make a "snake run" pipe...making for a very interesting pipe and almost endless transfers/hits throughout the pipes length....as the 1st idea, i have thought of a few different designs about how this would be constructed and would be made out of a pre-existing pipe groomer, only having to change the actual cutter to be double sided, and being able to rock back and forth to cut both sides of the pipe...
