So i tore my ACL MCL and miscus after just over 10 days on snow last week. I have been told that its not looking like ill be able to ski hard at all this season. So to keep me sane in the winter im planning on getting a camcorder. One of my good friends and the person im going to be filming with most of the time has a xh a1.

I have a budget of +/- 3000 that i made last summer/ reembursement check from student loans(i know stupid to use a loan to buy a camera but its worth it to me) So my question. What do you think would be the best camera in that price range, think about things like having to buy a tripod, extra batteries and everything else with right around 3k (willing to go over by a bit if i have to). Right now my experence is basically using a GL2

Right now the 3 cameras i am considering most is the fx1 xha1(really good because my friend can help me learn it) or the hmc 150. What do you guys think, Im not set on these three so if you can think of something else good to look at shout it out. Also im willing to buy used if i can find something good so if anyone has a near new camera they are looking to get rid of let me know.

Sounds like you want HD, so try to find a FX-1 or get the new FX-1000. IMO, hdv > avchd. If you wanna go for a axh1 then that would work too, but i personally would rather have sony. But thats me.

Ive been doing research and what do you guys think of as the difference between CCD and CMOS. I have always throught of CCD as being better than CMOS...is this true with the new technology?

I think it all depends on the situation, i think CMOS is better in low light? I'm really not sure. All i know is CMOS senses light and changes but CCD doesnt change.

in the slr world its really good in low light( keeps image quality) and it provides more natural and better color

i have been thinking ill probably get an Fx1- they are older but still seem real good, im looking at a basically new one for 2400, or a little more used one for 2250 still deciding between the two. I think this is the best deal im gunna find. Also how much do you think im looking at to get a decent wide angle, Im guessing around 250 or so does this sound about right? thanks for the help guys

I cant see myself going to solid state anytime soon to be honest. and the lack of low light quality kinda keeps me away from that one

I dropped 380 on a .6x for my hvx, 10mm wider thread though. Prob 300 bucks for a good lens.
