Pros and Cons of Wide Park Skis

94-100 you dont notice too much difference. they may be a little harder to edge on rails, but the extra girth adds some stability on jumps and landings.

the extra width really doesnt make too much difference on rails though; after breaking my 88mm waisted afterbangs i had to ski on my s5's for park (98mm waist) and didnt have any difficulty hitting rails with them.

Wider = more swing weight, harder to throw around. More stability on landings, and as wider usually means softer flex, more buttery.

Although I've found wider park skis (I.e. Anthems) to be a bit cumbersome to throw around, I feel like they're also a bit more stable. Hovever, I like the feel of a skinny stiff park ski the best because they're light and nimble but still stable. I don't butter too much anyways.

pros

-stability on jumps

-sometimes you can go a little shorter if you want

-buttering and especially pressing is so much easier

-overall smoothness

cons

-heavier

I much prefer wide park skis, even on rails. They offer a much more stable platform for balancing on. My best days in the park this season were on my Helix's (105 underfoot), not my AR6's...

depends where you are. i'm in NJ, and really, I don't want a ski much wider than I have right now (85) it would be super annoying on the all ice slopes that occur.

lizzeys are amazing in the park. if you can find a pair i would get them. i love mine. i alos used my eps alot in the park this year (no rails) and they were pretty nice. washed out here and there. but still good.

I've been riding lizzies in the park for a few years, they kind of blow if you want to dance on rails or spin past 5 on smaller jumps, but for just flowing through the park and dicking around, they are amazing.

its individual. some people prefer wider skis for park, some dont.

i for example like my park skis skinny. keep the weight at a minimum, be quick edge to edge and have a real responsive ski.

i definitely see the advantages of a wider ski, but i just prefer the skinny punx im on right now

I ride lizzies and LOVE THEM. 110 underfoot and it's just awesome how stable they are. I've had a few close calls where I would have gone down HARD on my punx that I just buttered out on my lizzies. Personally I like the lizzies, and I loved my 06-07 chronic blends in the park. Those were reasonably wide. But I've found that a wide park ski provides me with more stability on rails and jumps. It's harder to jib tho. At 5'2" these fatty skis are a bear to jib with haha.
