I was thinking about this earlier. It seems like Canada would be better just because of the free healthcare (payed through taxes?) What are the pros and cons of living in Canada vs the US?

ah yes typical stupid fucking american acting like if free healthcare is bad

ah yes typical stupid fucking american acting like if free healthcare is good. When has the VA ever worked? UK denies care to "supposedly" terminal ill kids. More swedes are going towards private care every year. Wait times in Canada are absurd. lets go government!!! lol

sure, I may have to wait 3h to get my broken arm treated (for free) but at least I’m not fucked if I get cancer

no one ever said it was a bad idea to regulate prices. Having the US Government manage something is a bad idea though(Airports, VA, DMV, etc). Id support regulating pharmaceutical costs, hospital stay costs, and medical employee wages(surgeons etc). Insurance is just a middle man and would change nothing if it were government run towards fixing hospital bills. Lower government rates would be unsustainable if the source is not regulated itself.

Have had multiple hospital experiences in Italy and Norway, only good things to say about the provided care. Fantastic doctors and never had any crazy wait times. Cut my hand in the US and needed 7 stitches, spent about 8 hours in the hospital waiting for stitches after they temporarily bandaged my hand. Also type I diabetic people dying from having to ration insulin pretty much only happens in one developed country.

Canada pros: Beavers, maple syrup, whistler

Canada cons: Trudeau, moose

Usa pros: depends on the dAy

Usa cons: I live in the same country as cardi b, vail

I get free health care in the US.

Seriously, the people who are claiming Canada is tyranny are being such babies, all while true tyranny is happening elsewhere.

Neg: Dwarfs, Syrup overused

US Pros: Snow, great skiing, Syrup

What you do for a living can factor into this. Canada generally doesn't treat STEM graduates kindly, as it doesn't invest as much into R&D as the US does. I think US industry provides more options for STEM grads than Canada does. Correct me if I'm wrong, Americans.

Damn, and I thought Republicans cared about their vets.

But yeah man, 30k for a 10 min ride to the hospital is like totally worth it. Keep sucking that corporate dick.

Canada- Single payer healthcare really does work, Canadian Rockies have some of the best skiing and snow anywhere, the coasts are really beautiful.

I have Canadian/U.S. dual citizenship and I can't think of a reason to live in the U.S. over Canada unless there were the perfect job or educational opportunity that met your needs in the U.S.

Canada Pros: beautiful country, nice people, excellent skiing, generally safe and secure

Canada Cons: absurd costs of living, climate is pretty extreme in most places (if it's not cold it's raining most of the time), lower wages than equivalent American jobs.

Is it pretty cold most of the time in Canada? I know nothing about it but I'm assuming because it's up north it's consistently colder.

moose are definitely a pro

Yea cost of living is getting pretty crazy right now. Food prices are going insane, which is the most worrisome. I recently saw a beef roast for $80/kg at the grocery store. A nice roast, but nothing too fancy. Probably 3x what it would have been 5 years ago. I really hope this pushes a lot of people to grow/raise more food themselves. Small-scale backyard farming is far more sustainable, it reduces shipping, reduces food waste, and costs way less. It's also character building and there are far too many soft people around these days.

Except when it’s 50 degrees C in the summer

This is the equivalent of saying "stop complaing about life in America, it's still really good compared to 3rd world countries"

No. It's not. That's a false equivalency as any I have ever heard.

It's more like complaining that the apple you're given doesn't seem as red as you were told it should be by some guy who saw a picture of one online, while other people elsewhere beg for the most bruised, shitty apples...

Canada is as tyrannical as a fuckin hummingbird.

The land mass is so enormous that it's hard to make a blanket statement. It's cold in the winter and warm in the summer.

On the east coast the summers are really nice for the most part.Winters can be really cold and wet out east.

Around Ottawa and Montreal it gets really cold in the winter and hot in summer.

The prairies are really hot in the summer and generally frigid in winter.

The rockies fluctuate between cold and frigid and occasionally warm in winter and hot/dry in summer.

West coast around Vancouver is rainforest climate. Doesn't get very cold, usually pretty temperate but occasionally gets mortally hot.

The north is hot in the summer and arctic cold in the winter. Where I'm living now it was below -40 C pretty consistently from the middle of January through February.
