Props to First Drop

First let me start out by saying I currently do not own a peice of FD, but I would like to personally give them a shout out. They started out as a new clothing company which alot of people gave them hate, for no reason. But they have imo came shooting out of a cannon as far as outerwear goes. They have the nicest colorways and styles. Not to mention the suit designer is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Being able to choose your sleeves, pants, and jacket is so sick. No one else is doing that, and thats what makes them a step above the rest. They have grown so much in the last year, and I personaly think that is so cool to see, because thats what this sport needs, someone with freash ideas, and freash products, and willing to think out side of the box to make a dope product. Now I know alot of you will say quit sucking up to them blah blah blah, but im not doing that, just giving some props to a company who deserves it. Thanks for what you do FD.

INB4 Smuggs posts stupid shit because he's still butthurt that First Drop didn't give him free shit.

But yeah First Drop IMO is sick.

Armada has had a suit designer before.

The zip of change sleeves thing really isnt that great.

And smuggs is not butthurt he just does not like first drop get over it.

the zip change thing is awesome, having a vest and a jacket all in one is innovative, and very handy, beacause it makes the jacket more versatile, rather than just being able to wear it on a cold day, you can wear it even on warmer days. Its sick, and lets not turn this thread around, they do a dope job at what they do and I think its awesome.

in their defense, they were out of stock when he got that thread for testing. maybe theyll throw one out to him this year?

Probably not, FD is Walmart quality compared to TREW and Saga even. It's not that nice, people just ride dick for cool colors.

There, I said it. Prove me wrong with a real side by side test or fuck off. "My friend has and it's...blah, blah, blah...." - no one cares, you don't see anyone riding BC in this stuff.

This thread is stupid. You haven't even owned a piece.

Hmmm, all this came off as hating hard on FD. Should have been a rant about stupidity. I like Lesh's work ethic and image, not his product.

At the end of this season, I will put out an honest review on 2010/2011 FD outerwear. Right now I've heard 50/50. People love it, and people think it's shit.
And how do you know it's Walmart shit? Do you have it, or does your friend...blah blah blah?

Their products look sick, but I do have a question before I buy anything. I've heard the colors run on their sweatshirts if you wash them, and isn't that a sign of poor craftsmanship?

I had a pair of pants from the original 09/10 season, I have not ridden in the new 2010/2011 line. The only feedback I've received is that it's not any better, but yes it should be fairly noted that I haven't seen the new stuff yet. I would love for it to turn out sick, the more options we have the better.

And I should also mention that I returned them after a week. Wasn't satisfied so I got my money back before I destroyed them.

No, no it is not innovative. Zip off sleeves have been around for decades. Just not on the outerwear styles that we prefer.

Thanks for the props guys, we really appreciate that!
We've been working hard, and hope this year's gear really opens people's eyes to the direction we are going towards...

Fuck the haters.

First year companies never fully work out. You guys just needed to work the kinks out and I'm sure this seasons outerwear will be a whole lot better.

Easy there boy its not like they arent cool because they werent the very first people to do those things, no one ever claimed that just chill out a bit

First drop=same old thing, weve all seen bright colors and baggy fit before right? And their quality is terrible. Get yourself something waterproof kiddies

they didnt make him create it. he did it out of courtesy and probably boredom and they thought it was sick so they added it to their website so people who arent on ns can still use it.

i would like to put things in prespective. take a look at any first year or older companies. for example: Jiberish, have you seen their first years line from like 06? not the best i have seen. or oakley...who remembers when a frames were the shit? no first year company is going to kill it their first year. i think FD came out of the gate firing and havent looked back since, which is what the need to do when going up against the big guns like saga, ldc, north face, trew, oakley, etc...

FD suits me fine, i'm in no need of super tech but like to look sick. plus i like to support local companies when its convenient:)

I guess i was a little harsh but first drop is nothing new. If you ski park all year it will most likely be fine.

i ordered fd and an armada jacket for this year after owning saga this year. so ill give a review of what i like about fd and what i dont. one thing i hated about saga was the incredibly thin collar. it just blew down during storm skiing and i dont like wearing things on my face so that was frustrating. im kind of sick of kids saying how they NEED 3 layer that are from utah or east coast. the snow in the pnw is much wetter and last years saga 2 layer 20k 20k which is apparentlly the same waterproofing as this years fd was fine. if its raining hard enough that you need 3L i will not be skiing unless im touring on an overnight in the backcounty. so after a few weeks of skiing pnw pow (prayinggggggg for snow) ill throw up a legit review of this years first drop.

the hate was not for no reason. a company with very weird sizing and 8k waterproofing will never make it in the outerwear industry. i'm glad they supposedly stepped their game up for this year but we'll see how it actually turns out. at least they know they needed improvement from last year and didnt just release the same shit with new colorways

I ski wet heavy crud most days in alaska, and every jacket i've owned 10k- 3l 20k has gotten soaked at one point or another. Hoping my saga will be as quality as they say. A friend of mine had FD last year and on day 2 the crotch stitches completely ripped out, and he was soaked most days when it was snowing.

Unless you have worn and tested all of these yourself, you don't know what you're talking about.
You are just going off what all the other FD haters on here are saying.
Yes, Trew is top, but until FD actually comes out, all of them are tied.

hahahah..? i think? but if serious then i dont know what to say. i guess up until last year i was just used to 2L 10k or less. so the 20k was a huge step up. i found the only time i got wet in my saga last year was literally sitting in the snow for 30 minutes or more. i wouldnt get wet from skiing. i also wouldnt ski when it was a mix of rain and snow up high. so if the fd quality is the same as sagas last year ill be happy. minus the super flimsy collar and hood of course

i ordered a suit, sort of regretting it- didn't see saga suits and prices. i do have high hopes for quality this year, as i believe they have changed factories.
