Prophet 100, Pistols and the Vicious.

Okay so I'm looking into some skis for next season. These skis will never touch a rail since I have Fujatives for that. These skis will be strictly big mtn/all mtn skis although I want them to perform well on hard pack too. I'm looking into the 169 Pistol, 169 Vicious or the Prophet 100 in a 172. I'm leaning towards the Prophets because they are stiffer but with that comes heavyness. I'm a fan of soft skis too but stiff skis are also fun... I don't want a ski inbetween. I'm hoping to demo all three skis next fall but I'd like to hear opinions on them. As for duriblility, they are all very solid so that's not a problem. Thanks for the help guys :)

i am in the same boat. i have park skis already and want a pair for all-mountain and pow with no intention of them touching rails. i was checking out the pistols, madens, and the vicious. i ended up going with the 189 vicious. for your size i would recommend the 179's. i think a little longer is better for all-mountain and powder, and you will still probably grow a little bit. now, if they were park skis i would recommend the 169's, but ultimately it is personal preference, and the decision is up to you.

the prophets kick ass; very stiff, can handle anything, and aren't heavier than either of the other skis you mentioned.

the vicious are supposed to be a little better than the pistols on hardpack. so it depends what you do. the old pistols are the fucking most amazing damn skis i have ever skiied in my life. they are amazing.

Few have skiied the prophet 100... friend of mine will be getting a pair soon, we'll see how he likes them. None of these skis is as stiff as the gotama. The prophets will be stiffer than the K2s, most likely.

I should not have let you go.

i skid the prophet 100 in a 186 , it kicked my ass at 5 10' 140 pound's, Get the Elizibeth . Holy fuck they are the sickest ski i have ever been on !!

Just dip your dong in paint and smack your helmet with it.

Well some have said that they like old Pistols better than the Seth Vicious so should I not concidar the Vicious anymore? Another thing, J.D.. have you skied Priors before? I demoed them and boy are they stiff, do they compair to that?

^ only lines have the same tip and tail height. they have a patent on it. K2's are probably amazingly close though. like 55/54, but i don't know for sure. i know the jp vs julien's tail is 15mm higher than the tip.

how technical f big mountain are you skiing? shorter sis are alwas helful for technical rocky shit, plus the shorter the ski the more you sink into the powder, and isnt that the point of powder? y get somethin like Pollards ski and float on the first foot of five feet of fresh shit...

I think I'm going to get the 172 Prophet. And I would just like to say that Josh Bryant is the best guy alive, he helped me so much on chosing skis. Thanks man :)

asking josh if you should get prophets is like asking the KKK to lynch black people. it's just how things are going to be.

Yeah he swears by prophets.

'Duran Duran bought Armada, Armada bought Microsoft, Microsoft bought MSP and AOL, AOL owns Time4 which owns the MountainSportsMedia which owns SKi, Skiing and RIP Freeze... so Armada now owns McDonalds and Coke.

Now Sean, I don't think I like being compared to the KKK. And in my defense, I also pushed the Seth Vicious. I'm stoked on all fat skis.

Excellent choice on the prophet 100.

Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

Without a doubt, most of the NS groms will fall in love with fatter than usual skis once they have tried them.

I skied the Elizabeth, and I feel like an idiot now for buying Skogen's a couple of months ago. -- I sould have just waited to get a pair of fatties next year.

I was very concerned about it's cabability on the harder snow, but then I realized that it is not much different than turning on a 94mm waisted ski, like the Seth Pisol, or B3. Those kind of turns are more of smears anyways.

Like I beforementioned, just try them once, and you will regret ever dissing them.

Everything Josh says is true about the matter.

I endorse your final decision wholeheartedly.

ive skied the prophet 100s in the 186 size and they are awesome. im 5'11"ish but im a heavier 185-190lbs. i love their stability with my weight and they ski awesome. they skied me a lil but i think with a lil more experience theyll be great skis for me. i would recommend the prophets and the 172 would probably be good for you cause the 186s would mess you up cause youre smaller. id say the prophets are a good choice cause i know im goin for em for next years fat skis for me. elizabeths will be mine for park depending on how the ski when i ski em soon

ther eonly prob is there turning radius is huge but i learned with skis of that size turning is not needed.

Just dip your dong in paint and smack your helmet with it.

Errg I just talked to a guy who has skied all three (SP, SV, P100) and he said that the Prophets turn like tanks while the SP and SV and more turny so I'm back at faze one now :(

I've only skied on Pistols but I think the Pistol or the Vicious would be more of an all mtn ski than the prophet.

Fat skis, Tight trees

I don't think you could go wrong with any of them, I would say just pick your favorite, or which one you can get the best deal on. Personally I would get the Vicious, but just because I know K2 skis kick ass.

big whoop wanna fight about it?

They are all very similar dimensions but different flex patterns if I'm not mistaken. As said above, the Prophet is stiffer, and it's my opinion that a softer flex, fat ski is better for all mtn riding.

^^ the line elizabeth is a sick ski. they are fat as hell, and pretty short. they carve really well and float well in powder. you can ski tight trees super fast. they are pollards park skis though. you should demo them.

The best way to know what ski is right for you is to try it out first. This can be easier said than done. But if/when you do try it, try it for more than one run. It can take some practice to adjust to a new ski.

never ridden any of them but i would say the prophets for the fact that i like a stiffer all mt ski so it can handle anything the mt has to offer, i find a soft ski can be good in powder and maybe turn easyer but you will lose the stablity and control a stiff skis has all over the the mt, i guess it comes down to how hard do you want to charge chutes, ride the bowls, cruise the hard pack, tear the Mt a new one, basicly how fast do you want to really go and still feel in control? Iim ridding a pair of 182 motherships and love how stiff they are i never break out my chronics unless i'm just sitting in the park. It takes a little bit getting use to the extra speed and having to work a little more for a turn but i've noticed my skiing progress since i can push my ridding more.

I am 5' 6" and I just got the 186 Prophet 130s and they aren't too much bigger than me. I get to go heliskiing in Chile this summer with em' :)

I would go with the prophets. Fromw hat ive heard they are sick as hell. I like my pistols but they fucking got shreeded apart on top. Has anyone else had that problem wher ethe sidewall gets ripped off allover the place. I have had som many core shot on the top of the ski. Same with my publics. K2's are good but I have had problems with durability.

I am very discouraged to the fact that the site adminster didn't look at my profile or ask before doing something like this. I may be new to this website but I have been skiing more then most of you.

prophet 100s hands down.

i am 5'8" and 180... and love the larger sizes.

elizabeths are super fun skis too but my all-rounder will be the prophets.
