Proper way of detuning edges

So I got new skis last week and need tips/help detuning them. I used a file and filed the edges round underfoot. Ive brought it into my ski shop and had them try and detune them. Had my friend use some sanding rock thing and a gummy stone and that didnt work. Nothing seems to be working. I catch my edge everytime I put my front ski flat even on narrow boxes... Its really making me mad and now Im afraid to do rails for the fear of catching my edge and slaming onto the ground like the first couple rails. Any advice?

so your edges are round and you catch an edge when it is flat? if so its definitely not your skis

ive used a gummy stone many times at work, and its worked great every time. Find a new technique to ridin rails.

It is most deffenitly my skis... When I slide a box with my front edge up off the box I can go fine but I loog retarded all leaned back, so when I fut my front edge down on the box it catches on who knows what and I fall forward onto my head. On my old skis I could grind just fine with both skis flat on the rail.

Also with my front edge up I cant set up for spins off or anything. Its really annoying me. There 178 anthems if that matters at all.

could be that since its boxes causing it, they are wider then the amount of edge that you detuned, so the non-detuned part of your edges is catching?

maybe since the anthems are most likley wider then your older skis, there is more surface area on the skis to keep level on the box. A tiny move of your wieght toward the end of the box could cause you to catch your edge.

Check to make sure you've detuned the right spots. A lot of folks lock on a bit in front of or even back of directly underfoot, so you may want to detune as far as a few inches in front of your toepieces and behind your heelpieces.

Also make sure your detuning job leaves an evenly rounded edge... a roughly detuned edge can be even worse for catching than a sharp one. Don't overdo it on detuning, a few runs over the edge with a stone and firm pressure, at a few different angles to achieve a nice rounded edge, should do you well. Make sure to fade your detune gradually back into a sharp edge, otherwise your edging while actually skiing will be all screwed up.

Finally, be ready to man up and slide that bitch like you mean it. If your stance is compact and you're grinding with speed there's a greater chance that you'll just chip whatever you're grinding and blow through it than actually getting caught by your edge and eating shit.

And if you try all that and it's still not working... what the hell are you jibbing, aluminum?
