it causes the snow to ice up making it firm...but not the salt you useon your walkway infront of your house...that shit melts ice. this stuff is more like fertilizer...

rock salt, salts the snow which melts it then freezes again make the snow stay longer and makes the in-run faster

I only use it when the snow doesnt pack... melts it a little and warms the temperature of the snow and makes it packable.

makes it faster too.
