Not sure why I am posting this here, but figured why not, it is NS after all.

About a week or so ago we found out that, on my parents property, we have a 200'x150' extension on the land. While it really isn't all that big, given it sits in the thick woods on the corner of our property, what it lacks in size it more then makes up for in sheer awesomeness.

Hidden behind rows of 50-60 year old rhododendrons and a few tall deciduous trees, we found a very old frog/garden pond. It has been grossly overgrown, looks as if no one has touched it for about 15-20 years. However it has retained water, and being as such, it has developed into a self sustaining micro-eco system.

Here is a lame pano of it I whipped up in PS a moment ago.

It needs a ton of work done to it, and that is what I have committed myself to over the next two weeks. I will be updating this page as often as I can, for those who are interested as well as giving myself something to push me to finish this project.

Here is another picture of what it looked like before I started removing anything. You can't really see how overgrown it is because of the Hemlock in the right of the pic, but you can see above in the pano.

That fence goes all the way around and is buried about a foot into the ground, and two feet for the pegs, not to big an issue, but the pegs are all rotted out in the ground so I have to rig it all up.

The bittersweet has taken over the tree and bushes, so I have to remove ALL of it.

Then I get to prune, the fun part.

I am going to climb up tomorrow and get an topographical shot that I can put into photoshop and use to lay out how it will look when done.

Will try and update this daily.

Yeh it was def awesome finding out we got it, but there is only so much you can do with forest, that's why it's so cool that it has this in it.

hahaha, i like the tools involved. definitely a legit thread.

tools on a fence, kinda like snakes on a plane. or wombats on a hydrofoil.

haha yeh.

I am not sure what I want to do with it yet exactly, but I know I need to do a TON of clearing first. Then pruning, then I will figure out just what I want to do with it.

That's def sick, yeh it will be nice now I will have two options when I come chill at their house. Either the Ocean, or the Frog Pond, or various other places, but those two involve water haha.

Yeh haha. Yeh that's a pretty crazy turtle, never seen two headed turtles for sale before. From what I have been reading apparently it's a very common thing amongst breeders.

Nah, kinda into Botony and Horticulture though and have wanted to take on a landscaping project just like this for the past 5-6 years, but have not had the resources to do so.

Fuck that, dude; put Alligators in it!

but for real, my uncle has a shit ton of koi in the pond/waterfall in his backyard and it's sick.

wow, cool project. its gonna be sick when its done. i wish i had a hidden pond in my backyard
