Progression

hey guys so ive only really been skiing for about a year now and its fucking great. nothing is more fun that sliding around the park. i can ski slide with both feet forward on flat rails and boxes and even some DFD boxes and stuff like that and im looking to progress. should i be trying to 270 on or off first? also i have the irrational fear of sliding any rails that arent flat. can somebody give me some advice/motivation to help me really start throwing down?

sliding down rails are easy. You'll just need to commit and hit it. It's all a mental fear.

You should learn 4's before anything. Great trick to try after you master the "both feet forward"

alright dick, im just tryna be a well rounded skier and not somebody who can only slide rails a certain way.

like just offer some advice instead of being a dick and maybe gus kenworthy will stop photoshopping his photos.

am i a dick

hitting rails switch is actually way easier, trust me. It's best just to go straight into 270 on because it will take way longer to learn sliding rails first. Go at the rail switch with a lot of speed, while you're spinning, make sure your tips dont go over the rail, keep them down

yet again, dont understand why everybody on here has to be an asshole. like why dont u wanna actually say something beneficial and actually help somebody for once.

spinning off is a fuck ton easier than spinning on. learn spinning off front and blind before spinning on.

I'll bet you can find like 200 other trick tip forums on NS or videos on Youtube

is that helpful enough?

I think it's known as "joking"... but then again, maybe im just one of those assholes who knows jack shit about skiing

If you can only slide forwards then start working towards sliding rails sideways.

After that work on getting comfortable on sliding a wide variety of rails sideways.

major tips:

-knees shoulder width apart

-knees BENT (the lower you are the better)

-more speed can never hurt when trying to slide a rail

-for down rails, lean with them. The worst thing you could do is to lean uphill.

after getting comfortable sliding rails progress to spins out and from there just go for whatever feels best to try next.

I would recommend trying 270s out first tho because they are much easier and less scary than 2's on.

Sorry for the double post but people are just trying to screw with you and give you a hard time. Don't let that keep you from an amazing community of skiers.
