Progression

This year is my second year skiing and my first year in the park. I can straight air most 50-60 foot tables with a simple grab and can spin up to a 540 over smaller tables, about 25-30 feet. Also, I can slide most non-kink rails, having trouble with kinks but I am learning and picking that up. I can also spin 360 nat and unnat. As for switch, I can ski most blue / black PA terrain backwards but can only spin a 360 switch. As for regular skiing, I can ski almost anything, not too well on some terrain, but I manage and can get down to the bottom. I think this progression is lacking and I need to step it up for next season. I am 18 and my goal is to go pro. A far off goal, but I want the best. My question is, is this a good progression rate and I am being too hard on my accomplishments or is my progression really too slow and I need to step it up. Either way, I am gonna go all out and try my best, I was just wondering how my progession was. Let me know.

Thanks,

Cody

It sounds like you're doing a good job but i think 18 might be kinda late to get in the game. I'm pretty sure most of the pros have been throwing tricks since they were in their early teens if not earlier. Best of luck though. Hit me up and give me some free stuff if you do turn pro.

Eggs and bacon please, eggs over skeezy

Nope, that is why I am in college. I ski because I love it and want to go pro because I love it, I don't care if get sponsors or not. Even though it would be nice. I just love to rip. But seriously, going pro is my lifetime goal, so I am gonna go for it. I am just wondering if it possible with the progression rate I am at. If not, I will just have to step it up. Honestly, I want to know if I am on track or was this season a waste. What is ur opinons?

^ now that is the motivation I need. I know I suck at skiing, that is why I am gonna step it up next year regardless of what you say.

What is the best way to go pro. I am thinking I should move out west or up north more and learn to throw down and go as big as possible at some comps. Honestly, I have no idea on how to start my quest besides hucking myself and learning. Any help would be greatly appreciate, and those of you who don't want to help and post stuipd shit like 'you'll never do it' and shit like that can kiss my ass. As for everyone that has replied so far, thank you. It is greatly appreciated.

don't know when you hit 19 but somehting that might really help is hittin up the adultsession at HN sounds like you'd get some of the best encouragement there and then when its like you skiing with shane and crew...good luck man and keep to it

If you say you are not going to respond to people who tell you things you may not want to hear, you need to learn about constructive criticism. Don't argue with them back and tell them 'fuck off', you just escalate the situation. Ignore it if you have to, or ask them why, if they may have had any personal experiences...you never know.

Ahh, very good point, but constructive critism you tell them your history and help them out, You don't flame them or what have you and bring no help to the thread. That is what I was saying by that. If you are willing to lend Constructive contrisim, I am all heards, hence you suck from above, but he helped. There is a fine a line on that subjet, but back to the thread. Good points and Thanks! Also, next year I will be hitting up the Adult Camp at HN.

O, How do i get sponership?!?!? That was joke, i was kidding.... I know comps are the way to go, but I have no idea what comps are about. I think we should start a topic on 'comps for dummies'.

i like the part about not caring about sponsors... but wanting to go pro... while being a pro is defined by sponsorships

What I meant by that is that I don't need sponsership or to go pro to be happy with skiing. But that is my ultimate goal. I hope that clears that up.

I live in pa where skiing sucks. But I have 68 days on snow this season. Not as much as I would like, but o well. What can you do with a limited ski season. Shit, it just ended yesterday, so that is why I am asking about progressoin, my season is pretty much done expect for HN and Tuck's Ravine trip.

I am 15 and am basicly at the same level as you execept i can basicly spin 7s and switch 5s, but your attitude is in a really good place (way better than mine) and i bet if it is your lifelong goal to become pro you will progress really fast. also mos def go to a camp you will progress so flippin fast. i went to coc and it helped so much with everything park wise. good luck.

Chronics, Bitch!

my brother is 12 and he is much better then you, and this is his second year skiing, hes the most progressive kid i have ever seen......

I'm not sure about going pro, but to get sponsors, you basically want to compete alot to get your name out there, and always keep a good attitude on and off the mountain. Companies want a person who can rep their products, and do it well. You're on the right track it seems. And if you don't end up with anything, just keep happy with skiing. good luck.

yea brotha.... theres not really any 'speed of progression' that you have to be worried about... all it takes is 1 day of balls out learning of tricks.... just jump on tramps in the summer and get a load of tricks down, and dont be a pussy in the winter.... try every trick you have..... learn shit switch, unnaty, diff grabs and a definable style.... tramps are KEY if you want to develop a good air sense, and progress as quickly as possible

and dont start sending your sponsor video to armada and salomon... start with local shops etc.

good luck!

I dont mean to be rude, but there are people that can do corked 9's and switch 10's off of jumps bigger than anything you've probably ever hit before, and they arent at the level of 'pro' yet.

If that is your goal, you have a LOT of work to do, especially at the age of 18. Im 16 and have been skiing the same amount of time as you and can roughly do the same things that you can, and i know that thinking of going pro would be a joke.

ok, i think its lame that you made a whole post about your skiing abilities, i mean your not pollard or anything. But you have a chance at going pro if you want it. Age doesnt fucking matter that much dude. Look at Griffin Cummings, he is winning comps like bam and he is 24 and smponserd by4fnt. Also Matt Sterbenz, he is 25. Oakly-White Allen is 24 and it seems like he got into the game just yesterday. I dont know how old the 3 phils are, but they aera aging and still in the game. Plus look at fucking Douglas man, he is 30 something.... dont forget Shane. You can do it, but only if you want it.

Ummm if your from Pa buddy you better get out now. You are just wasting your time by skiing here. My advice is go up north in Vt or out west. 68 days in Pa? Thats pretty insane bro esp for pa.......and I mean you hav a background of any sports just curious cuz it would be more understandin if u did. Tell you what, try to ride with me this weekend and I;ll talk it over wit ya, I'm in college in Reading, Pa if I don't blue mt this weeeknd ill either be at jack frost, camel, or mt creek so leme kno dude

Keep, Keep on truckin' Yeah...Good Stuff

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

sit booboo sit. Good dog.

^ Accuatlly, I am not sure if I am riding JF or Mountian Creek. I have never skied JF, so I am thinking I am gonna go there on sunday. Let me know.
