Progression Thread

Hey y'all, searched for a thread like this but couldn't find one. Every time I learn a new trick I want to post about it because i have 0 friends that care about park skiing, but feel like it would be kinda annoying if I made a new thread every time I slid a new rail or added 180 degrees to a spin. Wanted to make a thread where people can flex the new stuff they've been learning this year!

Yesterday, I was afraid of any kind of rail with a horizontal/elbow kink. Today, I laced a z rail and even managed to get a couple blind 2s out of it. Also slid a honkin rainbow that I was lowkey terrified of rupturing my sack on. It's the t rail at telluride if you know what's good.

Would love to hear from y'all. What new tricks are you hyped on learning recently?

This thread is worthless without video! Work it Mitchey. No Diss, just want to see with eyes.

Second attempt on the rainbow. A little sketchy, but didn't get a vid of later attempts. No vid of the z sadly, will catch another couple of vids in the next day or two!

Taco’d my ribs on a tube trying lip 2s this weekend, the attempt after I laced it. Pretty much a ride on down tube but I was happy to add a new variation to the bag

Yesterday I Learned how to do a surface 360 on top of a roller. ( I think that's whats its called? When you do a 360 that doesn't get air)

I was feeling mellow so I wasn't in the mood to do much of anything high adrenaline. I saw this older guy so I watched him out of curiosity since I'm older also. He did that 3 and I thought that looked like something in my ability level. I followed him the next lap he did and just did it. Its fun. That should help me to get used to the motion to do one in the air

Now if I could put that same attitude to hitting rails....

I also grabbed my tail for the first time. More like touched it but still a different motion than a safety grab.

Also just got better at going into and out of switch.

Simple new things make me happy. They all build up to the experience.

Nice! Lee-Ike!

My rail game has been going pretty swell this season

landed front 4, got k fed on lock, backswap b 2, front swap front 2, backslide, switch lip b 2, unat b 2, unat backswap

Gotta up my jump game still can’t do a proper 3 :/

Finally laced Lip Front 2, always did blind 2 (TRUEEE) cause I felt more comfy, but pretty stoked to finally get the front too.

Finally got some confidence to hit all of the features in Springboard at Loon. I finally hit some down rails comfortably. As for jump, i learned switch 3 and hoping to get a couple grabs with it next time.

Hit my first down and down flat down rail today. I had some cleaner attempts but this is the only video

Damn sounds like you’re doing good this season

I was fuckin on one today at Snow Summit. Decided to dedicate a day to rails since historically I’ve avoided that shit like the plague because I know my weaknesses. Got wayyyy more comfortable riding rails and tubes, messed around with a flat down, and even landed a lip on blind 2 (only trick)

Not anything crazy, but I’m honestly super stoked to finally be able to do rails consistently and progress beyond that all in one day. Now I just gotta spin right lol

Progressing this year has been weird for sure. Coming back from a major knee injury so I'm gradually progressing back to where I was pre-injury. Started off by hitting the tiniest features in the park to switch, then got some front 2's out (landing switch felt way better). Knee has been getting stronger so I just moved onto hitting my first jumps of the year (TINY jump), back 2's, front/back swaps, bigger features, and even a 180!

Never thought I'd be this stoked about 2's out and 180's but man this process has given skiing a whole new meaning! Hoping to throw some back 4's/swap to 2 outs this week but we'll see!

I have been working on getting better at sliding unnatural this year and now I have more edge cracks on my unnatural edges of my skis than the natural edge.

I touched my boot the other day... big win for me! I'm getting better at popping off of lips too. That's about it... long way to go.

Dislocated my shoulder mid rail slide the other day. Didn’t fall or nothing. My dislocation game has really stepped up from last szn. Last year I dislocated twice and this szn I have almost dislocated 8 times now!! Ive been training my dislocated shoulder game all summer which explains why its been coming out so much. In total its been around 23 times in the past year.

In all seriousness im super choked tho and im def taking the szn off to get surgery ??

lip 2 kinda. I count it because it was my first but I def wanna clean it up

i tried to ride on to a box, do a 180, then ride off switch but i somehow ended up doing a full 3 across the box, then i wasn’t able to recreate it since but it was mad hype when i did it

I grew up ripping corrugated tubes as a standard so I tried them on that first most people definitely would freak out and I for sure had a couple of hard falls getting edges caught and shit.

Did my first 2 continuing 2 on a narrow box like a 3bar rail width. Was able to stop my rotation make it to the end and then spin so it wasn't just all one motion.

Finally got a legit safety grab. Obviously nothing impressive, but yeah it felt super fucking good.

If it feels good.........do it. Victory!

I just learned blunt grabs and Japan grabs yesterday, feels so fucking sick. I can’t spin more than 180 really so I feel good about being able to do something in the air to compensate for that. Progression is progression dude!
