program for ripping songs off cds to your computer

hey, what is a program to get songs off of cds onto your computer? i used to use windows media player but now for some reason when i do it the song is silent and has like background noises from my computer, like the AIM sound. so wahts some programs?

I've always used CDex... never really tried anything else because it was the first freeware program I ever found and it works great. Do a google search on suggestions where we are too lazy to post links.

cat /dev/hdc > images/cdname.iso

that's the way real people rip cds

real one player. but the first time you do it click prefs, then select your format, and click the link that says something like 'get cd quality mp3 playback.' you dont have to sign up for anything eaither.

you're not the only person to use linux antadam =P

reads the cd out of the device directory and puts the puts the contents in file cdname.iso within directory ~/images

 
If you use windows, EAC is the only option. If anyone else says anything different, you don't have a clue, sorry.

crap dude! get dbpoweramp from www.download.com it also allows you to convert wav to mp3 or mp3 to wav
