Professional soccer players should be ashamed of themselves

1. you cant allow full-contact in soccer because you would get zero flow in the game

2. for some dives, you got to have knowledge of the rules: thing is, when you hardly manage to jump over a guy trying to foul you and you stumble afterwards and lose the ball then, its not a foul.

i play (or at least used to) a lot of soccer, so i myself "dive" whenever i see, ok this guy fouled me (regardless if he hit me or not) i might fall and claimed he touched me because it was unfair of him and i would be PLAIN DUMB to try to jump over him and lose the ball cause the next guy is already standing ready...

3. i mean real dives, where there is nothing unfair involved by the opponent are bad, yes, but you cant really avoid them. in the premier league, normally fans boo their own players when they dive, but you can believe me, if some guy from manu had managed to get a penalty an wednesday with a dive, no manu fan would care

Screw that. Scott Stevens' top 10 hits on youtube alone are better than that video.

you mean this one?

didnt Rob Blake hit pretty damn hard too?

as examplified by sports such as nfl. dont hate it is true, the constant stop start, full team changeovers is the biggest drawback of the sport and why it doesnt compete on an international level with other sports such as soccer and rugby. i dont play soccer, nor do i play rugby or nfl. i used to play afl and i would say it is my favourite sport to watch. no doubt its largley about upbringing as to what sports people are bias towards. i do however believe that the most skill is easily found in soccer. undoubtebly. its teams like italys world cup team which deface the whole sport and make people who value some muscle and seeing some hard hits so easily overlook this! my 2c

i watched american football once its pretty god damm boring to be honest with you.but soccer probz seems boring if you have never played it. but the skill level in soccer compared with football or rugby is in another world.

This argument is pathetic.

Every sport is different, each one has its own strengths. Some people prefer to watch soccer, some people prefer to watch NFL, some people prefer hockey etc. etc. One isnt better than the other, its all opinion.

NFL isnt better than soccer because there are big hits, and soccer isnt better than NFL because theres more flow. its a different sport, you cant compare them.

Me too, what despicable spelling.
And skiminnesota or whatever your name is just STFU, you keep recycling the same argument over and over after I've disproven it numerous times.

Yup that is better. I couldn't find it though haha.

And yeah Rob Blake hit pretty hard too, but extremely hard. I know him. Nice guy.

Forsberg is probably also one of the hardest hitting centers ever.... and when Lidstrom and Chelios were younger they could hit pretty hard... now they are too worried about breaking a hip.

I think it's funny how all these non contact sports have diving, but when I played lacrosse I saw nothing like this ever.

If you were subject to a dirty hit you just kept playing, if it happened again you bitched to the ref.

Doesn't anybody think the cost of playing the sport is only part of the deal, the other being how much fun it is. Skiing is expensive, and we all do it. I have a soccer game tomorrow, and i play because it's fun. Being cheap is a bonus.

And i have definitely seen some fake falls and whatever in soccer, but the kids i play with usually don't, us or the other teams. Sometimes it happens, but it's rare. I'd say i take some very hard hits from kids who are like 150 or 160 pounds and like 6 feet tall, and i'm 5'4'' and 116 pounds. I also hit them back pretty hard. Soccer is definitely a rather contact sport, and you can't be a pussy to play it.

I hate to say this to my own countrymen, but most are way too ignorant, and all they can appreciate is stupid brutes beating each other up and scores that go into the stratosphere......

Take some time to appreciate it; it's not called the beautiful game for nothing. Besides, look at what pro American football players do off the field......I don't need to name anything cause its obvious but they should be far more ashamed of themselves than any real Footballers....

I remember that Paul Kariya hit from like 5 years ago, still think it was a late hit, but man oh man he flattened him out.

you're going to go ahead and tell me that professional soccer players don't get into trouble off the field too? Off-the-field issues aren't limited to NFL players alone. quite drinkin punch.

well I'm not going to deny it but saying pro footballers should be ashamed of diving is not any argument when all of this other stuff is going on......

they get in trouble, but very rarely is it very violent or a big deal. They usually get drunk and will get into a small scuffle or something. Not gang related or shootings or anything like some NFL/NBA players are involved in.

outisde of Plaxico Burress being a fucking douchebag and shooting himself in the leg i havent really heard of anything uber violent/gang related but i dont pay attention to off the field stuff.

well, i am european, i love soccer, but i have also a lot of interest in the nfl, and a little in the nhl and nba

when i go to the chargers team site on nfl.com (just an example cuz its one of my 2 favourite teams), i see vincent jackson, jamal williams, shaun phillips making headlines due to DUI and other things that need a court to fix it. donte stallworth actually killed a guy while DUI recently. santonio holmes was arrested at least two times because of disorderly conduct.

and here are some others from the 2007 season.

SOCCER PLAYERS??? tbh, i cant remember a soccer player involved in a shooting, in a dog fighting ring or whatever. of course there are minor legal issues with soccer players, but regarding the number of soccer pros in the world with that teenie-weenie amount of football pros its just astonishing.

i play soccer im 14 and i have gotten hit very similar to that [tho not that hard] and it was legal. you know what i did? i got back up and just kept playing. i will admit i LOVE the sport, but my team is juat a punch of pansies 99% of the time. im just in it because its fun and gets me in shape for skiing.

haha soccer will get you in shape for anything. seriously, for all of those people who bitch about soccer, do you honestly think the majority of people who play the sport act like the people in that video? take skiing, how many people on newschoolers ski with jon olsson's style/ choose to dress like him? not many.

okay okay the video is funny, but you cant say basketball players, ect. dont flop or dive to get flagrant fouls and charges. Just like in soccer, its all about getting the call to go your way. On the other hand, some the flagrant fouls that have been called during the NBA playoffs are extremely stupid.

Although most have seen it before, the vids pretty funny so thanks for sharing
