Prodigy 1.0 all mountain?

I recently picked up a pair of faction prodigy 1.0‘s and was considering buying an old mountain ski like the revolt 104, but I don’t wanna be broke for the rest of the season, do you think that the 90 mm waist of the faction will be enough to hit the occasional glades and rare occurrence of new snow? (i ski the east)
 
I mean I think you’ll be fine. You could always up it to a 100 but I don’t know how necessary that’ll be. I mean you can make a 104 work but I can’t say it’ll really be worth the money. I say stick with the prodigy and keep your eyes peeled for a good deal in a wider waist. No need to go and spend retail on a 104.
 
It is designed for newer more recent mountains but I don’t see why it wouldn’t be fine on older mountains.
 
You can ski any amount of powder with any width of ski, the extra width just makes it easier, 90mm should be absolutely fine. I once skied two meters of fresh powder on a pair of 65mm racing skis from the 80s and had an absolute blast.
 
Yea dude it’s the east coast it’ll be fine. Like yea you’ll have more fun on a 106 a few days a year but the 90s will still be a hoot. If you are sinking ski faster.

OP my daily in NH and ME is a Prod 2.0 (only 8mm wider) that’s too short for me (they’re mounted dead center in a 177 and I’m 6’ almost 200 pounds) but I swear it’s the most capable ski I’ve ever owned. I usually buy 6-10 pairs of skis a year and end up selling them after 3 days because the Prod is my standard by which I judge pretty much all other skis. I ski mine in the park, in the glades, I’ve even borrowed Daywreckers (because they really do wreck your day) and toured on them after a storm and they rip. Obviously they don’t float like a pow ski would but they’re fucking awesome. The Volt 104 is also a great ski but it’s way better at playing around at lower speed. On the east coast where things are hard most of the time it doesn’t quite have the edge grip or torsional stability that the Prod does. Hope that helps
