Problem burning DVD?

If my burning softwares (mulitiple programs) crash and pop up with an error message "com surrogate has stopped working", what the hell is going on?

I'm positive my burner works, as I can burn data DVD's, but unfortunately they're not compatiblle with my car's DVD player.

+ rep to anyone who has an idea of wtf is going on with my computer?

I'm running a fairly new Dell inspiron with windows vista.

thats the problem. i dont quite understand it, but everyone i know who has vista had serious problems with it, problems that i never even saw with xp.

its a bummer they couldnt get vista together before they released it. that said, i really dont know whats wrong with your dvd burner. if you used a dvd converter to wmv or mov or something of the like, you could easily use that file to burn onto the dvd. but creating a middle man is certainly a hassle.
