Pro skiing career much shorter than pro snowboard career

do you have any clue how incredibly wrong you are? give seth morrission some fuckin respect, i hope your kidding with that post

i think skiers just get over competitions and just want to have fun, look at anthony and the phils they dont compeate any more but they have some sick segs

JP lacks the style to be up there with Hall - but his urban drops mixed with his pow-shreddage makes up akin to Mikey LeBlanc I'd say, so there's one pro that kids still check for.

Douglas may have won the back 9, but I think that he too lacks a lot of style that older snowboarders have.

McConkey just parachutes off cliffs now, and as sick as that is, it's boring as fuck to watch and read about all the time.

Morrison - no fucking with that name, haha.

Julien Regnier, however, has always been one of my least favorite video skiers. He has good ads in the magazines, but all of his video parts are kind of lame.

My theory is this - we haven't had pros with style long enough to have pros that are in it forever. Newschool skiing has only been around as long as JP, JF and Vinne (and Douglas). Snowboarders getting old now were like the Sammy Carlsons or Vanulars to the OGs. Give the generation now some time to grow old, and we'll have more ground to compare the two sports.

also, please don't counter my critique of any of the pros mentioned above with a 'if they're so lame, why don't YOU do the shit they do'.

just because your done with comps does not mean your carrer in skiing is over. Look at Mike douglas....that dude is like 35 i think and he took the K2 back 9

We still have the advantage because a skiers dick is twice as long as a snowboarders.

jamie pierre could drop a 250 footer on a snowboard just as well as he did on skis, all he did was fall. and if any of you little tards have seen flying circus you would know he tried chads on a snowboard.

skiers stop doing comps so early because ski comps are fucking lame. im sure they all get tired of the xgames after a few years, we need more events like masters or Terje hakonson's comp in finland. mix that shit up and don't make it so glorified and homo.

3rdly, skiing puts way more pressure on your acls becuase of the tails on the skis, way too much leverage for good knees

it all comes down to publicity. In snowboarding, they can afford to still publicize their older pros. In skiing, it seems to be a lot more cut throat, either you're the best, or latest and greatest, or you're jack shit.

but still, people like JP Auclair are truely at the top of their game now, because he is able to take into account every single aspect of skiing, whether it be park or BC and incorporate them into one smooth style. Again, also like Mike Douglas, who beat out all the other young park skiers in the K2 Back Nine.

All in all, no, its not shorter, its just less publicized.

all you guys that are saying like mike douglas, shane mcconkey and like glen plake. yeah they still ski but his question was about competing, he's right all the young guns are the best skiers so the olser guys move to the back country, big mountain shit. A because that is where the sport is going, and B because they cant win comps anymore because each generation of skiing is differant.
