It depends, the more videos you're in and the more sponsors you have the more money you will make. if you do good in comps sponsors will pay you more and you will get prize money. I f you put together a good segment sponsors will pay more and probably the video company.

yeah from what i heard Seth doesnt make much, he spends all his money in heli trips and stuff , he gets a budget form his sponser's and when that dries up he has to use his own paycheck. he doesnt make much but WTF if i could heli ski all the time and had a house and truck i wouldnt complain.

My post was merely an observation, im not particularly envious of JP's salary, nor do i think that it changes anything about him. the kid had a question, i gave him an answer. and it is also important for the young'in's on the site to have an idea of what kind of cash you can ( or cant for that matter ) make in freeskiing.

most pro skiers barely make enough to live on. when's the last time you heard of a pro baseball player selling his equipment on ebay to pay his bills. but remember it's not about the money...right?

actually the majority of pro baseball players play in the minor leagues and make very little money...just a thought

obviously its intrest in what the make, but i go along with the whole 'its their business' thing...but its obviously very LOW...i mean only a handfull of guys clear 100k a season...alot of them work on insentives with extra cash for comp results/photos/mag covers

your right!, the majority of pro players are on AAA teams. And don't make near as much as the big show players. but they still don't have to sell their shit cover bills. the only reason I used baseball as an analogy for sking was, it was mention above.

It doesn't seem like the salaries of skiing and other sports like baseball and basketball are fair, for what skiers are doing these days, but if you have played in any of these sports, even at an ameture level, you would know how much work is put into them. Still, skiers are majorly underpayed, depending on how you look at it. You could see it as 'Skier go out every day and huck themselves off of 80 foot clifs, they deserve millions for that.' or you could see it as 'skiers get to go out everyday and do something they love, and get paid a pretty good amount to do it also.' I for one choose the second point of veiw, because all the money that I make now goes into skiing, so if I had the good fortune to make it big time, I would get to do the thing that all my money goes to anyways, except just get paid to do it.

YA, i guess a few years ago when Salomon dropped Philou and picked up Candide they gave him a contact for 1/4 million for 4 years. No that isnt a quater mil a year, but all together. that is sick from one sponsor, not counting photo incentives and stuff

I dont see what the big deal is with asking how much a pro skier makes.....I mean shit they dont hav it bad so wants wrong with wanting to know how much they make? I'm sure they wouldn't care at all they ski for a living and thats pretty good job and so people dont bitch I made 8.50 an hour over the summer at about 450 a week ......Wow this seems like a touchy subject on here but probably one of the most asked questions in the industry cause it always comes up.....
