I am going to start my first day of trainging today super stoked! Kind of nervous but I know ill do fine. Anyone else have there's who can tell me what to expect in the early stages?

in the early stages you can expect allot of walking around the outside of the plane alot. also there will probably be some reading. and listening. but not a ton of flying. that changes really rapidly though. like once you move through the real basic introductory shit its just like "boom, we all up in that sky and shit err day"

Haha sweet. I have been flying for a little over a year now, I take off and have landed a handfull of times. It'll be kind of nice to take a step back and really learn about the plane though.

I haven't got my PPL yet but I was surprised how much time I got on the stick right from the start. On my first flight I was given full control of the plane up in the air and did most of the approach for landing. Second flight I did take-off but not the landing (it was pretty blustery so the instructor took control). Third flight I landed it too. I've only had five lessons so far (work, money etc...put my PPL on the backburner for a bit).

I had a tiny bit of experience with flying a plane before my first PPL lesson courtesy of the RAF. But not much (like two hours) and it was years and years ago.

There's also a bunch of studying, radio work and such but I'm sure you know about that anyway.

Good luck with it. CAn't wait till I can resume my lessons

The first flight will probably an into flight. You will do a walk around and then go for it. After take off you will probably be doing most of the flying.

I have a little over 10 hours right now, just did my first solo and I have done very little class work. It is expensive and time consuming though. It will end up costing around 5 grand to get to 40 hours.

If I had it to do over I would have saved up like 3-5k and taken a 2 or 3 days off work each week for a month and just gotten it in a month. Not flying for a month or two I forget a lot of shit.

I also remember looking on ebay or something and there are flight schools out there that charge 7,000 for a week. They provide everything room and board, flight time, all inclusive 7k and you walk away with your PPL. That is the way to do it.

i'm like 27 hours into it right now. first flight you'll probably get to fly and everything. my instructor is cool so it makes it a lot more fun, instead of constantly being serious the whole time. i'm working on my cross country flights right now which is definitely scary but i can't wait.

Well my instructor was booked today, so im starting 10am tomorrow. The hangar that the plane I fly is actually owned by my instructor so I know him pretty well and he is a pretty cool guy. I have been flying with a friend who is really helping me out with my license. Letting my borrow the plane so I dont have to rent and everything and I have gone down to part time at work, having 3 days off a week to fly. I'm going to work straight through until im done, Ive been saving for a while so it shouldnt be a problem. Im stoked, didn't realize there would be this many people on the forum that actually fly.

sounds sick...i'm getting my private pilots license because i have to at my school for air traffic control. which i'm definitely not complaining about haha.

That's sick enjoy it and study hard, stuff may save your life one day. I'm working on my commercial/ multi IFR this year at school. Don't get discouraged when you get to a lesson or exercise that you can't seem to grasp, everyone hits a platau for a while and then one day it will just "click".

Keep the greasy side down, and good luck !
