This is going to end up being a huge ass rant, so here it goes.

I'll start by talking about prisoners. I recently took a tour of a local penetentury here in Ontario Canada (kingston pen if your from the area) and it was the biggest joke of my life. These prisoners live better than I do at school. Free internet, free cable tv (yes thats a tv and computer in there room), a single bed and a bathroom. No cell mates, so dirty toilets, no bull shit. I live in a rez with a room mate, a bathroom down the hallway, and a tv with no cable. I was jealous already but its gets better. These CRIMANALS, who have raped and murdered our society figuratively and literally are welcome to a fucking free education coming out of my tax dollars. Yes, as if paying $30 000 for a University education wasn't a big enough slap in the face already, I get to find out that criminals get what I am paying huge bucks for for FREE. Not only am I paying for an education, I am paying $60 000 a year for EACH prisoner to be in prison PER YEAR. Fuck that. 1st degree murders should not cost me as a tax payer 1.5 MILLION dollars to sit on their ass for 25 years then get let out. This isnt the 30's where we convict people based on hearsay evidence. This is the fucking 21st century with a little thing called DNA. The chances of convicting an innocent person is lower now more than it ever has been. Now for the smaller crimes such as counter fitting, fraud, rape, theft; Hows this for a change. Lock them the fuck up, give them a hole in the ground, come clean water and food, and a fuck load of time to think about what they did and how they can turn there life around when the get the hell out.

Now for reaffenders, the biggest joke of them all. How bout this one chap, 3 strikes, and your out. You should be getting the fucking chair for all I care. Clearly, if you havn't learned from the first 2 times, your a lost cause. You are raping and raveging our society of all goods thats left, and after 3 consequitive times, your out. 75% of americans let out of prison re affend at some point in there life.

Now this is getting long and I can go on all day, so I will end this with immigrants........Heres my call on this. You come to my country (yup I said my country, since I was born here and I own property I think I'll call it that), and leach off our public services such as welfare and free housing, and you have the nerve to commit a crime. If an immigrant commits an indictable offence, or felony if your from the states, you should sent right back on the next fucking boat to whereever the hell you came from. Im not talking about stealing a loaf of bread, im not talking about getting caught with a couple grams of weed, im talking about big crimes, felonys. If you were not born here and rape one of my friends or family members (picture your sister or mom), and you brutally attack her, why the FUCK should you pay 40% of your income in tax, and 13% sales tax to keep this fucker in jail for 10 years in OUR country. Peace out bud, get the hell out. a $1000 plane flight is a lot cheaper than 1.5 million dollars.

The only thing I can say about all this bull shit is god bless the US of fucking A and its Capitalism. Canada and its push over pussy bull shit is starting to piss me off.

agree completely about the criminals, and after they get out they arent going to have many opportunites to use their knowledge that the tax payers payed for but the prisons or w.e are trying to help those ppl get their lifes together and teach them how to live a proper life... so i dont know, prisons try to help but they dont need to be spending sooo much money
 
when an immigrant commits a crime, dont they get deported immediately? i think you have to be a citizen to go to prison.
 
Although I do agree with you, prisoners life has gotten too easy, they get to shit in clean toilets, have free food and housing. In my dorm, im paying 425 a month without tv and internet. I live with 2 idiots I cannot stand and Im working harder than an inmate.

Prison is a punishment, not a retreat. And for immigrants, they should be deported to their country.

And stop with the patriotism bullshit, in the US, inmates get free healthcare, something not all americans can afford. Capitalism is a system filled with greed, hate and selfishness.

 
haha while i agree mostly about prisoners, i think its funny you quoted a guy whos a neo nazi in the movie. Immigrants arent necessarily bad people. If they get caught doing a crime its one thing, but if they are stealing all the really good jobs like landscaping, mcD's employees, and construction (sarcasm) its another. I dont understand why people are so against immigrants. 70 years ago all the Irish and Italians in this country were immigrants, and chances are you are some kind of percent of that heritage.

And to answer the question about stop with the capitalism, I guess your right, maybe I'm watching too many movies where prisoners in the states have bunk beds in a cell with no tv and no internet. Im just saying I think they get it better in canada then they do in the US. Which I think is still safe to say after reading your comment.

Oh, and to the guy that said dont all immigrants get deported. No. An immigrant is a citizen too, they just were not born here. They dont get deported, they got locked up like every other citizen. Yay, I invite someone to this country on refugee status so I pay for their escape from the country and flight here, then I end up paying $60 000 a year to keep them here. Total bull shit.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

But to the original poster, deporting immigrants is a shitty deal, especially in America. Our border control sucks so bad that every single person we deport almost inevitably comes back. I believe that illegal immigrants convicted of felonies should not only be deported, but face American length prison terms in their home countries as soon as they get home. All these countries need to take responsibility for their trash and quit offloading the cost and burden on us.
 
Its fun to notice that other countries, especially Europe, have better criminal rehabilitation programs than we do - more lavish facilities, but people over there are less likely to re-offend as compared to the US. I think rehabilitation does work, and that it is worth it, as exemplified by European countries... but the main difference between us and them is that our system has many many more people in jail per capita than the rest of the modern world. And yes, it costs more to have more people in jail.

Perhaps its not the system thats broken and hemorrhaging money. I think our programs and prisons would work if they werent so overloaded. And we do have a extremely high crime rate for a first world country. Maybe we should look at why our citizens are so prone to criminal acts instead of blaming our institutions and committing all inmates to purgatory.
 
You guys need some hardcore border patrol then. Especially down in like california and Florida from what I have seen.
 
Not all of then are hardend thugs. Think about all the things that can land you there. There is a shit load of coruption in our modern judicial system
 
we are spending too much on our prisons and perhaps they're over-pampered, but I don't have any problem with prisoners having access to an education. an education can really change someones perspective on life, or at the very least if they're ambitious enough to get a degree, they should be able to get a job once released.

on another note you know american history x was pointing out how f-ed up his mentality was right?

and while the facilities may be nice prisons isn't all tea parties. you can never let your guard down, there's no women, there no access to any of the things we take for granted (restaurants, malls, movie theatres...not great examples, but you get the point)

and there are as somebody else said people who are wrongly convicted even with dna. not every case involves dna...jurors are people and are swayed by human emotion, which can be deceitful.

just some shit to think about.
 
Its not like CSI makes it seem. That isn't how they solve cases, they don't look for the truth the whole time like they want you to believe often they just build a good enough prosecution to get a conviciton. Its up to the defendent to pay for thier own defense in terms of dna testing and other technologicaly advanced testing and guess what? If you don't have the money it doesn't get done
 
well i think the reason that they are living so good and getting educated in jail is so they arent all pissed off when they leave. the jails arent punishment centers, they are reform centers. Its like a clockwork orange.

there are worse things that your tax dollars go to then prisons
 
You are assuming that criminals (those that commit felony crimes) are completely sane individuals who are exactly like every other law abiding individual, and that these individuals if left to their own means would be able to fix their behavior problem. You’re approach is similar to criminalizing drug addicts; it is unfair to the individual who has a problem, and you show no compassion to fix this.

Living in prison cannot be all what it is cracked up to be, because if it was you’d have gone and robbed a bank and gotten your own ass thrown into “Disneyland.” If all you value is cable TV, internet, and a clean toilet, what’s stopping you from having some fun, going on a criminal spree, and ending up being provided for by the state?

If there was a program that assured 75% of all criminals that entered the program would exit as citizens capable of living a moderately acceptable lifestyle (one where the individual will no longer commit felonies) would you deny it funding? I agree with you in that the way prisons are currently set up is ineffective, but I would be more than willing to pay to help out individuals who have trouble living in our society find a means to redeem themselves, and get out of prison. I do not think that digging someone a hole in the ground, and giving them a chair to think about what they’ve done would do any good at all, to me it is morally disgusting.

There are a lot more factor’s in criminals’ lives that dictate their fate than just their own personal decisions. You mentioned DNA, a person’s genes, upbringing (neighborhood and family influence), as well as education are at least three factors of influence which a criminal has no choice over. How can you punish someone for something they are not entirely responsible for? You don’t. You can reform, you can assist, you can provide, but you do not punish these people, and you most certainly do not fry them on the chair. We can be mature enough now not to stoop to capital punishment. And we can be mature enough to help those in need.

 
You've probably been born into a life of privilege yourself. Don't be so critical of people who have had to fight for their lives their whole lives.

ok prisoners should equal, rape,murder etc., basically bad crimes should equal death everyone else should have a total shithole of a prison to go to.

immigrants need to speak the language and be legal, if they commit crimes, deoprt the bastards

yeah but for every "bad immigrant" theres hundreds of good ones who work their asses off below mininum wage just so you can go to your grocery store and get your produce for cheap. immigrants are going to be the back bone of our society soon. as more citizens get educated and move onto tertiary jobs, immigrants are going to fill in the primary and secondary industry jobs we live off of in order to have a good life.

All of you blaming understand that even though many Mexican and Central Americans and never commit a crime still sow the seeds of destruction with their offspring. The 2nd generation immigrants are US citizens and cause even more crime than the 1st generation.

All of them need to be stopped. Asians as well, how can it be that they make up the majority of students at almost all the Universities of California? Its bullshit, I didn't get into my first pick school because I know the spot was handed to some worthless bookworm asian kid who lives a completely imbalanced life compared to me.

If you knew anything, which apparently you don't, you would know it is the fault of the system. If you have a felony on your record, you almost literally cannot get a job. People won't lend you money, because your a convict. So, how do you go about getting money to feed yourself? you steal it. Instead of killing all the reoffenders, how about drastically changing the justice system so that it actually rehabilitates prisoners. Isn't that the point of prison, to make it so that they aren't criminals any more?

I'm assuming you didn't, because the main character that says that is an intolerant racist, and the kind of criminal you have been bitching about. and at the end of the movie, he realizes how much of a fucking moron he was before prison. Oh yeah, the prison scenes in that could make my entire argument for me.

completly agree except that all ILLEGAL immigrants should be deported. if a person becomes a citizen legally then they have the same rights as those born in the country.
 
Maybe when you guys move to Canada and start paying 50% of your hard earned fucking money you will get the point. These people leach off good, honest, hard working people.
 
You are under the impression that if you instituted the death penalty for all triple offenders, things would end up being a lot cheaper.

Unless you are removing the individuals right to a trial, and completely removing any sort of humane treatment of these individuals up to their actual death you will have to pay more of your "hard earned fucking money"

In 2005 a study by the LAT found that California spent on average $250 million on each death row inmate executed. In relation to life sentences, this was an extra $114 million a year beyond the cost of keeping an inmate with a life sentence with out parole.

Your reasoning is childish, your argument is childish, and what you are proposing is an immature outdated "solution" to modern criminal punishment.

this thread needs less anger and more knowledge. emotional and poorly thought out positions like yours are the definition of ignorance, and the historical basis of a lot of social injustices. your attitude epitomizes the selfishness and shortsightedness i despise the US for, and I would be thrilled if you went and joined them. when you have taken the time to assemble an argument based on facts rather than anger i may consider you qualified to speak.
