im checking out DJ programs for my future PC, and have only really looked at Ableton, and FruityLoops, so i wanted to know which one has better ease of use, and/or quality. also prices

I guess you could use ableton as a dj program with the apc but fruity loops is not even close to a dj program. They are for music production. If you said dj but meant music production then I will elaborate more on both programs but if you don't then I'm just gonna post funny pictures of lolcats.

zomg. how many fucking dj/production program threads do we need?

fruityloops and ableton are both for production. deadmau5 uses ableton to DJ, but that does not mean you should. Because 99% of everyone out there DJ'ing is using a DJM-800 and 2x CDJ1000's by Pioneer. Because.....that is simply put...how people DJ?

If you want to DJ with a computer, you need a midi controller. and preferably Native Instruments - Traktor Pro.

Not Virtual DJ.

Virtual DJ is a childs program. You might actually catch people using midi controllers and traktor pro in clubs for instance, but virtual DJ? Never once................................nope, cant think a single time.

Sounds like a lotta people are outa the loop as far as DJing goes. Ableton is very widely used as a DJ program, especially in CO. Most big time DJ's use CDJ's for 2 main reasons:1) They are older, and that was the standard when they were starting out, and2) Most venues have CDJ's the artist can borrow for the night, so those artists just travel with their CD case and borrow the rest.
My friend who is a DJ recently got me started using Ableton with an APC40 (Highly recommended controller) Its been a blast, you can basically use it right out of the box, and setting up a basic DJ mixer took us like 10 mins. It also has applications for production, which is pretty sick.
Anyway, between the two programs, go with fruity loops if all you wanna do is produce. That is really what it is made for. if you want the flexibility to produce, DJ, mix, and remix tracks on the fly, go with ableton. The way I see it, if the computer is beat matching anyway, whats it matter if you are either hitting a button or dropping a "record." There is no real need for tables in electronic music imo, unless you do some dope scratching with your music, but there are workarounds for that as well.
I dunno if that really answered your question, but if you have some more questions, I am pretty experienced with ableton, and I've toyed with fruity Loops, and I am pretty into music, and an electrical engineering student, so I have a pretty good understanding of how this shit works from all angles.
Peace

might be a colorado thing?

I am not aware of that many DJ's using ableton.

In the midwest its ALLL ABOUT SERATO SCRATCH ZOMG.

yeah it might very well be. Also a genre thing I think. I know sooo many performing DJs that use ableton, but they are all electronic artists. The one hip hop DJ I know uses Serato.

i like to spin electro/house/progressive house.

But yeah....Ableton is absent here. If I understand correctly the only way to DJ in ableton is to use the time warp function to mix tracks together? Is that correct?
