Pretzel off

yeah, right spin on left spin off or left spin on right spin off would both be pretzels

it is not pretzel off, it is simply pretzel

and you don't need to spin onto the rail to pretzel,

you simply spin off the rail 270 degrees in the opposite motion that you got on the rail,

so, for example, if you got on a rail with your right foot forward, and spun rightside 270 off, that would be a pretzel,

or, if you got on a rail with your left foot forward, and spun leftside 270 off, that would also be a pretzel

and again you don't say pretzel off, because that is the same as saying 270 off off, it is simply pretzel,

and you don't need to spin on the rail to perform a pretzel, you can just railslide pretzel, or 270 on pretzel, etc...

get it? not many people do yet...

and a bagel is simply spinning with the motion you got on the rail,

so, if you get on the rail right foot forward, and spun leftsie 270 off, that is a railslide bagel

and, if you get on the rail left foot forward, and spin rightside 270 off, that is a railslide bagel

you can spin on to a rail and bagel aswell, say 270 on bagel. but you need to spin off the same direction you spun on... as in keep going with the motion instead of opposing it (pretzel)

the terms come from how you look when you do it. when you bagel it is a smooth buttery circular motion that is created.

when you pretzel you oppose the motion and have to turn your shoulders across your body creating a tangled look which represents an actual pretzel in real life.

there you go, no more misconceptions people can get it correct now.

because it sounds way cooler than 270 off haha, and it distinguishes which 270 off you did in 1 word.

how is this the worst thread ever? the creater wanted to know the difference, so we gave him a lesson, now all the confusion will end.

^yea, shit dude, these people dont know the difference between a good thread and a bad one...Havent been here long enough.

i generally dont use the term pretzel for slide-270 off. just say 270 off and if you need to clarify, f/s or b/s

maybe this is just my term but i say pretzel and half-pretzel. 270 on - switch would be half pretzel. 270 on - reverse 270 off would be a full pretzel.

it absolutely is. the terms were straight up lent to us from snowboarding. and those are the technical definitions from snowboarding.

it is, but it's bullshit to claim it. If i ever hear anyone call a regular fs 270 a pretzel, i will cry. Pretzel implies added difficulty, and fs 270s are probably the easiest rail trick.

wrong.

A pretzel is more special than just a frontside 270 off. Anyone can do those, but a pretzel must include a sw up one way with a 270 out the other way, or 270s on and off different ways.

pretzels and bagels for all

dude im not wrong and I will argue this to the death. the term is directly from snowboarding and by the snowboard definition translated into skiing, it is exactly what i said. so no i am not wrong. you just are misinformed.

you forgot to mention the switch up varieties. the only two i like is bs switch up switch off and bs switch up bs 270 off (bs switch up pretzels)

the def. from snowboarding is that you spin the opposite way you slide. so like if you did a front board, and backside spin out would be a pretzel. or vice versa. so in skiing is spinning off in the reverse direction of your momentum on a rail, so you absolutly dont need to spin on or switch up to make it legit. its a snowboarding term, and in snowboarding you dont have to have a spin in to call it a pretzel out. i think the argument of people claiming that is retarded, like if someone does a nollie lip pretzel out on skis, theres no two-sev in, but its still a dope trick. nuff said.
