Pretty sick idea

So me and my friend were talking about what we're gonna do when were older, trying to find jobs that had to do with skiing etc and we just thought of (in my opinion) a pretty good idea.

The idea is a manufactured summer set up that's easy to set up, relatively cheap, and compact (maybe even transportable?). It would slightly resemble a playset, just smaller and for skiing instead of having swings and slides and shit. Obviously it would be a hassle to ship these things but if we could get ski shops to start stocking them in their stores we thought it might not be that bad of an idea. In no way do I plan on taking action with this idea now, or even in the near future. It was just an idea that popped into my head since I've seen all these posts asking about summer setups and while building my own setup. What are your opinions on this?

As a "side hustle" sure, there is no way you could live off of that. Despite how big freeskiings community looks, we are a tiny minority in the world of sports.

That's true. Another way I could do it is just open up a ski shop in a town where freestyle skiing is super popular, then sell them there and not let the other shops stock them in their store. Again this is all hypothetical I'm only 15 haha

i am 15, felt bored about a week ago so I decided to start a apparel company. 1 week later I have ordered my first stock, and my online store is coming soon. Anythings possible man.

Issue is that's a type of product that people generally buy once. So either you'd have to charge a ton to make money (and lots of people wouldn't buy because of the $$) or settle for living off your ski shop profits in an area where the market is most likely heavily saturated. Not saying don't develop, just gotta think about the business logistics.

You wouldn't make that much money since your audience would be pretty much limited to Newschoolers. I would buy one for sure though.

There are definitely similar albeit uncommon products out there, however my suggestion would be to rent these things out. That way you don't have to produce as many, and you can sell the product over and over again for different events.

You would need to make it cheaper and easier than building one yourself otherwise people would just build their shit and not buy your product

Lookout we got a business major over here! but seriously initial demand would be pretty low and after that there would be nearly zero demand, so take that into account. Any time you can sell the product more than once is good for you.

What material are you going to make this out of?

What size would you make it?

What's it going to cost you to make.

Whats the advantage of buying from you rather than building themselves one, especially when ns is full of crafty cheapskates(myself especially).

We have thought about selling "kits" or even designs for summer set-ups. I think you are on to something. Keep thinking. Anything is possible.

hahaha any kid can come up with a logo on ms paint, order a few Chinese t shirts and iron ons and call it an "apparel company"

invest some more thought into this idea! you are on to something, the more you think about it the more vivid your vision will be. post any progress in this thread, im quite interested actually.

Go for it man! I had a few buddies who made a t-shirt company geared up for hockey players in high school. They started out just making them for their friends, but after a few years of pushing their ideas, they started to take off and now they are making some really good money through college. They're shirts even took notice by some of the guys on Sportscenter and for the hockey portion of the episode, they gave them a plug and wore their shirts. It's crazy what a few good ideas and some decent marketing can do. Never say never.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Youd just have to make sure they arent overly expensive, since the price would have to be outweighed by the convenience as it isnt really that difficult to build your own setup

you have to remember that the demographic you want to sell to are poor.. they use fencing to slide on and pvc they find.. best of luck to you if you make it happen!

you and every other kid on here

IMO you are nothing special
