Pretty sad video. Do not watch if you have weak stomach.

I cant imagine the pain that David must have lived with for the rest of his short life. This video is just because the 24 hour lemans is on and both of the Audis had massive crashes and it makes me remember how far car safety in racing has come in the past 20 years.

Thats so weird. I just watched a documentary on tv with my dad yesterday and it was on how dangerous the cars were in the formula 1 during the 70s and this clips was one of the ones they showed. Terribly sad.Unfortunately this was one of many death from on the F1 tracks during those years, safety was taken a lot less seriously back then...

That one is also VERY graphic. They both died actually, the fire extinguisher hit the driver and broke his neck.Senna's crash also always brings back chills, very sad as he said before the race it shouldn't be run because it is too dangerous since the Austrian driver had already died during practice or qualifying.

Wow, that really got me. I can't imagine what it would be like for David to hear his friend screaming but not be able to do anything about it.

WTF were all those people doing just standing there? They probably said it was dangerous or they were liable or something. Fuck that shit. Go save a life.

At least there is still some good out there. Watching people put it on the line for others is the most inspirational stuff IMO.

this was back before everything was regulated and safety based.

Those other guys couldn't help because they weren't wearing the flame suits that seemingly everyone involved in a race now wear.

no one else stopped because they were flying by, and saw a flaming car overturned, with 1 driver standing outside. Wouldn't you assume that the driver standing next to the car had been the driver of it?

and im pretty sure back then they didn't have firetrucks or equipment along just about the entire truck.

very sad video though. Especially the part when he walks back across the track, dejected. Imagine having to leave behind your buddy in a flaming car...awful.

i dont get how some of those guys were just standing there...

like, yea, might not've had fire retardent suits on, but take something, and wrap your hands in it, and push the car for the 30 seconds to flip it over.

its like they werent even trying... none of em even touched the car or tried.

its just sad... some burns on your hands or arms is worth saving a life to me.

major respect to that David guy. RIP to his friend.

If you haven't seen Senna's Top Gear tribute

Was just watching the video from 2000 when Schumacher beat Senna's record. Amazing driver and person.
