not trying to be a dick, but on the reals... if Obama wins(which i hope) how long do you think he has until some bigot kills him? i am pretty confident that neither of our presidential candidates will survive their first term.... The thought of Palin leading our country makes me want to cry a lot and vomit a lot more
 
word to the last sentence. and yeah, im fairly confident that he will be killed within 3 months if he is elected. but i do not think mccain is going to die anytime soon. the guy was in prison camp for years, excuse him for having some issues with raising his arm or whatever. he really isnt that old.
 
i just dont think hes that confident... and he is pretty old.. he could have a heart attack or choke on a prtzl..... and 3 months is more than im giving obama... our country is still so full of racism
 
I don't think it's going to happen. I would say well hey if something like that is going to happen Bush would have been assassinated by now, but I think the people who dislike George Bush are not that type of crowd, that crowd is formed by more of like the uhhhh, well yea you know, smart, educated people.
I still remain hopefully optimistic that the secret service does a damn good job as they have been. I don't see it happening, this country has suffered far too many assassinations. Just having someone like Obama or McCain go somewhere these days requires an enormous effort by the secret service and the local police departments. I went to an Obama rally in Portland last March I think it was, and they put shit on lockdown. Left the rally and there were literally national guardsman on every corner of every building I could see. I'm pretty sure that if would have taken off on a sprint with my hands in my pocket i'd be dead right now. The night before my girlfriend was stuck on a train until midnight because they shut it down and blocked all these roads so he could get into his hotel.
 
Yeah i possibly think this could happen. I mean if you really look at america in general there are so many racist people its crazy. There are still a lot of crazy groups who hate blacks. So one of those idiots will probably kill him and not cares what happens to himself.

teddy roosevelt got shot in the chest before delivering a speech. he decided to give the speech anyways, with a bullet in his chest and bloody clothes.

also, an assassin tried to kill andrew jackson, and failed. jackson then proceeded to try to kill him back with his cane but was held back.

I've been thinking the same thing for a while now. But, i think he's going hunting with his GREAT friend Dick Cheney the republican. Presidential Accident is the correct word

 
about as long as it takes to get to Chad's Gap from ALta. but no really i hope it doesnt happen if Obama gets elected, but you never know what some stupid white southern supremecist will do. If it does happen i predict there wil be violient repercussions from the black community.
 
I would say that the fact that people think that theres a chance he will be assasinated might accually decrease the chance that he would get assassinated. There going to have such tight security over his ass... There are always going to be people who hate the presedident and want him dead throughout the entirety of our country, yet presidents have a fairly good track record, espically in more recent years. Also, not to generalize, but I doubt the type of people who would want to assassinate the president for reasons of race would have the mental capacity to pull something of that magnitude off.
 
McCain is 72. which sure is old, but my grandparents were 90 and sharper than anyone I knew. And you aree right, obama has already recieved hundreds of threats for just running for president, secret service will have to do some serious work if hes elected
 
IF obama gets assassinated, who'll most likely take the blame?

will it be a white supremacist bitter about a black man as president, OR

as it seems to be the hot trend, will we create conspiracy theories about it being an inside governmental job?

and if we do go the route of blaming the government, will we jump to the conclusion that it was Bush and his cronies?
 
my old rommate is an actuary (they set rates for insurance companies and other thnigs....alot of math) and he with his equations and models from his insurance company determined that he has a 24% chance of dying in his term. Not a huge chance but its there. And these figures are more exact than you think
 
i think what you mean is those who would attempt to assassinate him are ignorant fucks.

earlier this year there were 3 meth heads driving to Denver during the dnc to assassinate him. while they didn't really constitute a serious threat, they do represent a population of people who do still hold race an issue.

i think everyone here agrees that it'd be dumb to assasinate him, but we don't have any reason to credit the entire population of the US that sort of intelligence, there are a lot of dumb motherfuckers here
 
Obama's security has detained something like 5 or 6 people who had sniper rifles near him, at least one of the guys I work with found an article about it. I need to find a source and get the facts, but that is disturbing.

I think Obama's insurance is Joe Biden. No one wants Joe Biden to be president. Fuck no.
 
well first off i would rather have palin as president then beidin (cant spell his name) he is an arrogant asshole that has no clue abou twhat is right and wrong.

any way my father in-law works for homeland security and said that there is already a fallout plan (for lack of a better word) in place for if odama gets elected then is assasinated. my local bookie said he will put the over under at 8 months .
 
and being a president is a huge amount of responsibility and stress. can mccain deal with that? it may increase that percentage a little bit if its not already included in the 24%
 
I think 5 years as a POW and 30+ years as a senator is a substantial amount of experience with stress. Who comes up with these numbers anyway?
 
Yeah, you kids are dumb. Even if someone wanted to kill the president AND tried, they would fail so hard.
 
i saw some program/read some articles about this, and actually doing it wouldn't be as hard as you think, its just a matter of getting away and/or wanting to survive.

But regardless of who wins, i truly hope this never happens.

Every president receives over 1000 death threats a year through mail, phone calls, and inside tips. Its not just obama and bush that people don't like. Also, the real problem if obama were to get assassinated is going to be the race riots and shit. Shits gonna be crazy when everyone riots, its seriously gonna be like the early 90's riots times a million.

if people were really that serious about killing Obama, he'd be dead already. I mean, it would be a lot easier to kill him in his current position than it would be to kill him as president. Then again, I'm not really sure if that's how these assassination crazies think (logically).

in 2004 during the election campaign, bush came to my area to give a speech, and i along with some of my reporters and photographers covered it for my university paper.

just to be on the press pass list, i had my background vetted by the fbi and the secret service and needed a letter from the university naming me as an editor of the paper.

when we got within a few miles of the location, they had roadblockes set up with armed police and swat members, and the entire parking lot around the event center was blocked off, everyone had to park in a remote lot and take a bus or walk to the actual building. the entire way between the lot and the event was lined with police

once there, i had to drop off my bag, my photog's bag, and any other accessories with the secret service where they were searched and sniffed by bomb dogs. then we passed through multiple security checkpoints with guards, handheld and freestanding metal detectors, and we needed multiple forms of id along with press credentials just to get through each checkpoint.

inside, there were secret service and tons of police stationed in full sight, and it is a safe bet to assume that there were several plainclothes agents and policemen in the crowd as well, not to mention the 6 or so agents that surrounded bush as he walked in and out of the room. when he was speaking, they were never more than an arms reach away, scanning the room.

im not saying that it is impossible for our pres. to be killed while in office, it would just take the work of a trained professional using a well executed plan drawn up using inside knowledge of the security around the president, not some meth heads with a deer rifle.

Biden is more qualified than Obama to be president, he just doesn't have the celebrity status Obama brings to the ticket. Notice how Hillary and Obama got 75% of the debate time when there was 10 candidates? So learn how to spell, educate yourself on the issues, and then get back to us. Assclown.

Killing a president would be next to impossible. I he's black or not. Just cause Obama is black doesn't mean he has that many more enemies. what you guys don't realize is the white supremecist guys don't really like any president, but that doesn't mean they will try and kill the pres.
 
Its really not. The secret service and all that is really most effective as a show of force to dissuade anyone from doing so. But you cant check every window for a sniper scope.
 
Ya, I've always wondered about that. It would be very difficult to do, but a good shot with a sniper rifle has a mile and a half of effective range. Scary.
