This is a quote off of CNN

"The women of Iran are the freest women in the world."

What an idiot. Has he opened his eyes while spending time in america because im pretty sure the women here arnt covered up and walking 6 feet behind the men.

No your the idoit. He said they are the freest in the world. If they arnt considered equal they deffinitly arnt the freest.

thye are covered up because it is showing respect for their god not becasue men don't want to see them

you don't know too much about how it really is in the middle east.

it's not how it's portrayed to be in movies in such, iran is a very modern and sound country, even though their ruler is a bit of a total whackjob.

but while the women there may not be the freest women on the planet, they are not beaten, they are not totally covered up (and if they are, it's their religious choice) and they are not looked down upon. statistically, there are more women in college in the middle east than there are men.

i never said anyhitng about that but saying they wear a head dress because they are inferior to men is not true at all

But the fact that he is ignorrant enought to say they are the freest in the world is what i was trying to get at.

Doesn't Iran still stone people to death for committing adultery? Apparently Ahmadinejad definition of "free" is a bit different from everybody else. Though its not exactly surprising coming from that walking propaganda-jukebox. Oh well, most Persians seem to think they invented everything anyway, and I guess "free" is one of them.

the guy is clearly a nut, he wasted a ton of money to have a street re paved and decorated with gold and stuff so that when mohammed returns, his horse will have a nice landing strip.

completely different, our government isnt using tax dollars to get jesus a nice hotel room and update his 2000 year old wardrobe, and get him a bentley so that his donkey can take a rest when he comes back.

she looks oppressed

but you had nothign to back it up at all up top people were disagreeing with you and you bent over now people are taking your side and you get back with it i you made this thread with 0 knowledge on the topic

Like the US has real separation of church and state. Christianity is intertwined with our nation's principles and leaders, just because we dont have an official office of religion doesnt mean its not sponsored by our politicians. I'm agreeing that Iran is downright crazy with some of the shit they do, but our country has some nutty shit as well.

Separation of church and state means that our government cannot force a religion upon you, not that all politicians have to be atheists.

im so pissed that mother fucker was let into our country just to talk shit. he can go to fuckin hell for all i care. that piece of shit thinks he is going to get to grund zero he can shove that idea straight up his ass. i'll fuckin kill him myself if he gets anywhere near ground zero. fuck.

for sure man, but i dont think anybody denies that the US is a Judeo-Christian nation with a secular government (well, at least at heart).

On a different note, it's good that Ahmadinejad got to speak, so it would at least partially shut up some of the fucking far far left who say Bush is like the world terrorist/worst thing to world security/dumbest world leader, etc. I despise Bush, but Ahmadinejad, even though he really has little power, is a nut job. He's said some crazy shit in the past, and this little go about in New York didn't make him look any better.

you people are all so fucking ignorant, have any of you actually read anything that the man has to say. probably not. maybe you should all educate yourselves before you go and spew about shit you dont really know about.

AHMADEINEJAD: I'm not making a judgment here, mind you. I'm not being judgmental. That's not important for me. What is important for me is to find out why this happened. We can take a course of action which ensures this never happens. Why should we manage the world like this? It's very possible for us all to be friends, for the world to be in peace, and for the family of man to love one another and to not hate one another. So who propagates these ideas, I ask you. We should all be friends. We should deal fairly with one another, respect one another. Nations do not have any problems when it comes to interacting with one another. Unethical politicians make war. Nations don't make war. We're saying that you should allow our nations to be friends with one another. We condemned that incident right there and then. Why should many innocent people be killed? For what reason? Well, behind this building there is another building, a building which in 1360 Iranian calendar, some 25 years ago, the Iranian president and the prime minister in the office, they were blown up by terrorists, a bomb planted by terrorists. And the president and the prime minister burned in that bomb, by that bomb. And, again, this is very regrettable that those terrorists, which were behind that bombing and other assassinations in this country, can freely have access to American officials are being protected by the American Army in Iraq. So this country is a victim of terrorism throughout its history. So you cannot produce even one document, a single document, about terrorist action on the part of the Iranian government or Iranian officials. We are very clear in our position. We say that we spiritually support the right of the Palestinian people and also independence for Iraq. We have nothing to hide. We are very much opposed to the Iraqi occupation. Again, we have nothing to hide. It's very regrettable that many thousands of people were killed in the Twin Tower incident. We have announced time and again. And what we are asking is can we do something that ensures this never happens? And the answer is "yes." We can do that, providing a number of parties do not establish terrorist organizations and set them off on nations. We know who is behind terrorist organizations. You know full well who is behind a number of terrorist organizations around my part of the world, that is. Who provided them with logistical support, political support? It's a very well-known fact they have made and created these terrorist organizations themselves.

doesnt sound so crazy to me

Honestly, are you that thick? He doesn't give a shit about 9/11, the only reason he is here is for political PR. And the paragraph is a long-winded shit-piss of propaganda. And the guy is a fucking nutter by the way. This is same person that believes the holocaust is "myth." You could fill a book with all the stupid shit he's done and said.

But yeah, other than that, he doesn't sound so crazy to me either...

hahah well if you think the president of iran is a nutcase what about the president of our own country who is hell bent on attacking iran? oh yea did you even click the link and read anything else besides one little excerpt?

Comparing Bush to Ahmadinejad is a perfect example of the old apple and orange comparison. Give me a break. Political PR, thats all it is.

Genius! If thats your measuring stick for trusting that douchebag, be my guest. But I guess its easier for you to comprehend things by keeping it simple. Sort of like comparing Genghis Kahn to Hitler.

see the funny thing is that whatever you are trying to talk about is not my measuring stick for trusting that douchebag. unlike yourself i have actually gone outside of my box and researched the state affairs in the world and i have come to obtain an opinion based on facts and the facts lead me to believe that iran posses no threat to the united states never has and never will. also they are by no means trying to produce nuclear weapons which is also clear and anything our govt officals say to the contrary is not the truth. so please stop attacking me and do some research on your own time using different points of views and sources and come to your own conclusions.

But contrary to your inaccurate assumption about me, I too have "researched the state affairs in the world and I have come to obtain an opinion based on facts," and those facts lead me to believe something that does not agree with your opinion. And, unlike yourself, take anything the Iranian government says (especially their poster-boy president) with a grain of salt. Their track record in foreign policy and human rights doesn't give me much reason to trust anything they say. So get off your high horse, just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I'm uninformed.

Do you know anything about the US sponsored coups that have occured in the past in Iran and many other countries? how about the hundred's of thousands of civilians who have died as a result of the United States "wonderful track record in foreign policy and human rights." Take a look in the mirror and you will realize that the United States has played a far larger role in terrorizing the globe than iran ever has or will.

I didn't bring up the US smartass, you did. But anyway, its still apples and oranges. The fact that you can't seem to distinguish the difference between the two is rather pathetic. I'm not saying either is right or wrong, but there is a clear difference between them. But I seems apparent that I'd be wasting my time here trying to explain that to you. I might as well be talking to a rock. Peace.
