Pre skiing breakfast

Doing my first ski season (yay!!!) and to pay for it I'm teaching which means early starts and long days teaching kids.

My apartment is fairly limited cooking facilities wise. I was wondering what all you guys do for a quick breakfast (or something you can make the night before) that loads of you up on the good stuff and keeps you going for the day.

Seems like a fairly stupid question but looking for ideas as all the ones I have will get boring or are time consuming.

Cheers

Pre make supper ware containers full of the stuff required to make a bomb ass smoothie. Then make some instant oatmeal and bring trail mix. If you have more time and need it to last longer eat eggs..... raw eggs.

Protein is key. Scrambled eggs are cheap fast and easy and keep you filled up forever because of all the protein.

Smoothie would be awesome except id need to source a blender. Oatmeal is also a great idea.

And who doesn't love scrambled eggs

hardboiled eggs too. can pre make em and last for a good time

I usually just eat a few Nature Vally bars in the car on the way up. Too busy skiing to realize Im hungry until I'm done haha

This. Some kind of granola bar usually does the trick. Couldn't be easier, gives you energy, tastes good every time.

Yoghurt, granola, with some fruit tossed in. It's got all you need; protein, complex carbs and some simple sugars to get you going. Wash it down with coffee and you're set to jet

this may sound odd, but eggs microwave super well. I like to just use a small glass storage container, scramble 2 eggs in it, add some salsa, shredded cheese and ham on top. Microwave for 2:30 flip over and drop onto a tortilla. add some hot sauce then wrap it burrito style into some tin foil. 4 min breakfast burrito that can go in your snow pants pocket. Lasts decently for about 2 hours without going in the fridge.

my routine last year

alarm goes off

beer

chew while getting gear on

bus to hill

coffee

"morning lineup"

bagel+creamcheese+bacon

never failed to make for a quality work day.

damn. this sounds awesome.

I have one of those stone wave cookers and highly recommend it for this easy breakfast.

Spray the stone wave, put a whipped egg in it. Microwave for 1:30-2:00 mins

Throw an english muffin in the toaster.

Put egg and slice of cheese on the muffin.

Boom, egg mcmuffin. Banana with it is good too.

Ok phew that makes a lot more sense. side note, have u ever tried peanut butter on a burger

No. But on the menu at the restaurant I ate at last night was a peanut butter burger with candied bacon.

I didn't order it.

Peanut butter is great on everything.

Peanut butter, banana, honey & granola on whole wheat.

Whole wheat french toast with peanut butter and obviously real maple syrup.

Peanut butter and jelly, duh.

Make sure to drink an extra water with that coffee.

Peanut butter and creamy siracha on a burger god damm mmmm

I eat the same thing I eat every morning....

3 eggs+3 egg whites scrambled

Bowl of oatmeal

Banana

Yum

Cowboy breakfast. Gives you 1000+ calories!

Egg, bacon tomato beans. Cook it as u liek, a bit of an effort, but so worth it.

Usually make like eggs or grab a protien shake/smothie if you dont have a blender buy a case of them you can get like 30 for 30 bucks and throw a bar with it youre set but my GO TO caps because I can and I love it is red bull and blueberry poptarts

Protein oatmeal for protein, fiber, carbs, whole grains to keep you full. OJ for vitamin C (immune system boost). Sometimes donuts and shit if I have time.

The key is high carb dinners the night before. People seem to think carbs is some kind of dirty word, but at the end of the day they are what will keep you going the longest

Heck yeah. Homemade breakfast burrito. Probably gonna get the cancers but I like to nuke some bacon or breakfast sausage with it too. Super easy and faster than even stopping anyplace.

joes donuts and choc milk

Joe's is so good but also sort of a gut bomb. Love that bacon maple bar tho. and those giant cinnamon twists.

beer upon waking up, mcgriddle and coffee on the way up the first chair of the day. Very healthy, all the important nutrients

I just make sure I eat a big bowl of oatmeal with some fruit, even if i dont feel like it at 6am. But either way I make sure I eat that and then smoke ma blunt before I head out.

Eggs alternated with the oatmeal some days.

big fan of granola bars, but if time allots, I typically just throw a jimmy dean breakfast skillet thing on the stove for a few minutes and soak it in hot sauce.

Typically I try to get out as early as I can to try and beat the crowds which means little to no breakfast. If I do eat/drink it's typically only granola/yougurt or protein bars and shakes. It's usually fine for me cause I'm too focused on skiing to notice I'm hungry. Then I'll just pig out for lunch around 11(which typically beats the lunch crowd) and then ski all afternoon. For me personally, this is the best way to do it.

this made me laugh...carbs only do you good until you deplete your glycogen levels, then you're fucked. fat is what will keep you going the longest. the inuits travel great distances through harsh arctic climates, surviving on little more than pemican. pemican is essentially bits of jerky encased in a large amount of rendered fat.

i wont get into the science of it, but if anyone is actually interested, theres a documentary called running on fat. its based on elite endurance athletes, and discusses the dangers of a high carb diets for athletes.

so to rephrase my last post, eat steak/bacon and eggs, put a bunch of butter in your coffee, and maybe bring an avocado as a snack. with a good fatty breakfast, you can ski for quite a while without eating. most days that one avocado would most likely be sufficient for your lunch, although eating more certainly wouldn't hurt either.

I always try to have a sandwich with Peanut Butter and honey. It sounds like a health nut thing but in reality it has Protein and Natures energy supplement. I have a hard time eating any milk based product in the morning and I can't really handle a big meal, So ill aim to make that or Have a coffee and a water and make an egg and some toast with bacon.

Yeah and after having tried that millions of times....It doesnt work. You eat the carbs BEFORE you ski or do whatever it is your doing. If you want to absorb the energy then and there at breakfast...you can. While if you think your going to have your body keep all that energy for 10 plus hours then your nuts.
