Pre-season separated shoulder

a man, i did the same thing last season, it sucked so much. i had 2nd degree, but i was an idiot and went skiing the next day, back in the park after 3 days. i would recomend wearing a sling as often as possibly and properly. i takes a longggg time to feel normal again, mine still aches when i sleep on it or pull it the wrong way, and i did mine back in january.

theres worse injuries, but especially for a skier a separated shoulder shouldnt be taken lightly

def wear a sling like the above poster said. i separated mine early september playing football and its still giving me trouble every day

i went skiing with mine. but hardly ever had it out of the sling. mine was 3rd degree and took like 6 weeks until i started moving it again

Just be careful always use a sling until it feels completely back to normal and then some. once it has fully healed be sure to stretch ALOT before doing anything where you might injure it again.

i assume separations and dislocations are the same thing but I dislocated my shoulder a week before a trip to jackson and it was fine. just rock a sling and keep the percs on deck.

I did mine on opening day last year, 3rd degree, completely tore my AC joint. Now i have a huge bump on my shoulder because my clavicle sticks up a bit. My dr said I could opt for surgery but it would be mostly for cosmetic purposes so my shoulders look the same, and unless I was going to make a living throwing a ball that it probably was not worth it. So I slung it up for about a month and after 6 weeks or so I was mostly pain free.

Definitely sling it though, it hurts like a bitch man I hope you have a quick recovery.

My boyfriend did that last season... still has a massive lump, yuck. Sling it up for sure... if you do go skiing, ride without a pole. My boyfriend tried with and just used that arm way too much.

had one 5 weeks ago, but didnt worn a sling becouse i dont like them... but now this week it starts hurting as hell again..

Dub post...but separations and dislocations are totally different. Dislocation is when the top of your bone pops out of the socket, separation occurs when the ligament is torn that connects your collarbone to your shoulder blade.

i tore my rotator cuff last season, and i slung it and did some theraband exercises to bring it back to speed once it started feeling better. the theraband was probably the best thing i could've done for it. its like a gigantic rubber band that allows you to do resistance exercises to strengthen the muscles that hold everything in place. you can easily get one from a physical therapist. good luck. those injuries are the worst for a skiier...

i seperated my shoulder a little back. i then proceeded to play on it during soccer season and in the process tore my rotator-cuff (alot witha bunch of other problems). i still played soccer for the rest of the season but i went through physical thearpy. HELPED ALOT!!!! allowed for a fast recovery which is very important cause AAU volleyball is starting soon along with skiing. very impressed by everything. i went without a sling but just taped my shoulder. i wouldnt hurt to get a shoulder brace either if u have the money.

Dude I separated mine last season, having surgery in December so probably no skiing this year.

Don't fuck with your shoulders man, I dislocated one of mine last season and I'm still having issues now. If there was any advice I could offer, it would be to make physio your religion and to trust your doctors. If you're given 6 months before you can ski again, then thats life. I don't know what the recovery time is generally for a separation but just stick to it and resist the temptation to put your skis back on until you're ready.

If you dont use a sling then your rotator cuff will not heal in the correct position, screwing your shoulder up for the rest of your life..
