Prayers would be much appreciated.

So here's my situation...

I broke my back out in Tahoe in March (overshot a booter). It got better over the summer, but flipped out again during soccer season. I just got the results from a CAT scan and they show that 2 of the 3 fractures are still present, but miniscule. The Doc said that the fractures shouldn't still be hurting. So now the local hills are opening for the season, and I'm still have a bit of pain (after 9 months of doing nothing). Now, I also have to go through intensive physical therapy now.

If you read this, don't feel obligated to do anything, but I could really use some prayer from you guys. I guess mine aren't cutting it.

Thank you.

wow Jesse, thanks for filling me in. I guess you won't be getting that Thanksgiving massage anytime real soon. If you're allowed/feeling in need for it, just let me know anytime.

yea, but the thing that hits so hard is that this was gonna be my big year. thrash all comps, get hooked up... so on. so much was going for me last year until it happened. i broke it at Nationals in practice... i couldn't even compete. i cried for hours, and im not ashamed to admit it. i just wish it never happened man...

Shit like that happens to everyone.

Its rough, but you gotta see past it and work on getting healed up.

You could try, get hurt again and end up have back problems (or worse, a wheelchair) for the rest of your life.

Chance it at a season of skiing when you know you cant go 100% at the risk of lifelong pain?

for real though man i feel ya, my bro does at least. knee problems have fucked up his whole life, he didnt go to college due to plans for joining the airforce and when his knee got fucked not only could he not go to the airforce but college was out to(too late), as was being able to ride at all so his last year with free time is basically fucked.

It's just so hard to hear it. The thought of not being able to compete OR ski at all this year hurts more than my back does.

I'm such a train wreck...

Here's the thing, you may have one more season left in you but a funny fall or just wear and tear may make it the last season you will ever have, I'd give up skiing anyday to save my back because you're life changes with no leg movement.

On the otherhand if you sit out one season and your back heals up to standard you may have countless seasons ahead of you just because you decided to not risk putting out your back and taking a one season brake.

Body > Skiing

I wish you all the best though, and I hope you make all of your decisions rationally!

Nope, im recovering from injury to, although not nearly as bad as you, and as much as it sucks not skiing, i know if i rush into it too fast i will be screwed for a long time, and i dont want to sacrifice my future for just one run. Best of luck bro, it sucks but im sure you will be fine if you were able to run in the summer.

oh man i can honestly say i've been there. i figure skate competitively and i tore my acl early into the season (skiing) 3 years ago. yeah hearing my acl was torn and knowing what it would do to my season was waaaayyyyy more painful than actually tearing it. it really does crush you when you have to see all you friends doing what you are so passionate about and yet all you can do is sit on the sidelines and long for just one moment of being able to do that again. hang in there bud. injuries are a part of being an athlete and the only way to get past them is to acknowledge they happen and hope for the best in the following season. i'm sending my prayers.

Yeah. For now I am just gonna stick to the mellow groomers, and go through the PT. Then I'll see how it is afterwards. I realized lasnight that I could really fuck myself up for life by jumping back into it too early.

Thanks for the support guys. Even though I don't know most of you, it means a lot.

yea man I hear ya. Ive fractured vertebrae before...it blows. It still bothers me every once in a while and it happened two years ago

if you keep breaking shit year after year... chances are that your just not meant to go anywhere with skiing.

try to find some other sport thats not so bad far your back, or even one thats good for your back if there is such a thing.

oh shit dude, i am betting that ur the kid who broke his back at Nationals right? I saw that shit.

that suck that you still have pain, but I know a kid in a similar situation, who just did a shit load of physical therapy, and now just takes massive amounts of pain pills before he skis.

if you are unsure, just ski for fun, and wait to compete/ski hard till next year.
