Power Strap/Booster Strap FULL TILT +K

I replaced the Fulltilt classic power strap with the expert Booster strap. The booster strap is not mounted into the back of the boot like the power strap was but it has immensely improved responsiveness.

That being said should I have left the power strap on underneath the Booster strap?? People say to do this

no. if you put power strap on with the booster it totally eliminates the elastic feel of the booster. its like pulling something, with a bungee cord and rope intertwined. the rope doesnt allow the bungee to stretch, thus pulling the object solely with the rope. does this make any sense at all? so in reality your not letting the booster do its job by putting the power strap on. it says this on the booster strap website too. i love my boosters too, its reduced my shin bang and nearly eliminated my toe bang

If that doesn't make sense ill say something easier to understand. You asked if the power strap should be left under the booster. Well since Booster straps go underneath the tongue and against the liner, there would be no place to put the powerstrap anyway. And thats directions from Booster. So another no.

In the directions it says to put it over the tongue, not underneath the tongue/around the liner. How would that in anyway make the tongue perform better.

If in the case that you did put the booster around the liner then a powerstrap would be necessary around the tongue , correct?

Power strap is used to eliminate space, so you put it around the liner so it closes it up easier. Going around the tongue adds space so not as effective. And cables keep the tongue in place so no need for the power strap

I tried that and it hurts, plus the tongue of the full tilt gets in the way and the edges rub up against the strap wearing out the hem.

It just feels noodlely when I put it behind the tongue as the tongue now is father from my shin, hence I lean forward too much.

When I strap it tight around the very top of the tongue I have zero space between my liner and calf all while the tongue stays close to my calf which makes it responsive.

I guess i’m doing it wrong, I ordered a stiffer tongue 8, and I’ll try the under the tongue again when it comes in.

heres directly from the booster website

The BOOSTER STRAP should be routed outside the rear spoiler and inside the plastic shell up against the tongue in front. The elastic is then stretched about an inch.

If on your very first turn you don't notice a dramatic difference in ski response, the BOOSTER STRAP is too loose or installed incorrectly. On the other hand if, after a few turns it feels like something is pushing you backwards the BOOSTER is too tight. Keep in mind that as in any sport your skill level improves with experience so your BOOSTER setting may vary with time. Adjust to your skill level.

so its supposed to go underneath so its between the liner and the tongue of the boot, so it eliminates space and gives you that rebound.

so this is how theyre supposed to be installed. they even give you a little pic on the booster strap website.

as for it rubbing againts the little part of the booster strap, i normally tuck it just behind the tongue so it doesnt rub, i didnt do it in this pic cus i was in a hurry and took these pics literally 60 sec ago

As Tom P would say, "do whatever feels best" haha so yeah if it hurts do it the other way but those were the directions like shin bang pictures

Yeah I understand that. It just feel noodlely. I’ll try installing my 8 tongue with the Boosters between the tongue and liner and see if that helps with overall responsiveness.

I just feel like I need something around the top of my tongue.

Thanks for that! Yeah, I think I just need a stiffer tongue before I can judge.

yea they almost felt softer to me too, but i honestly like that because i get shin bang super easily. maybe try the power strap in between the liner and the boot? i used to do that and it gave me more pressure in the upper part of the boot.

What do you mean by "in between the liner and the boot?” Also, Full tilts have the 3 piece design, so they are a lot different than most boots.

I think a stiffer tongue will help with stiffness at the top of the boot and responsiveness, my 6 tongue holds me back and that’s why I feel like a new skier when the strap is over the top of the tongue because it really clamps down and allows only slight forward lean.

lolz theyre not that different. did you see my boots? 3 piece design is nothing new, and what was your reasoning in getting a booster? do you have custom footbeds? whats your height and weight? footbeds alone are the #1 key for control and power transmission. theyre more important than the boot itself. its like a sports car with sloppy steering if you dont have them. so if you already have footbeds, and your boot fits properly, you really shoudnt be having any problems other than if you want a stiffer flex.

I know they’re nothing new, I do have sure foot footbeds not completely custom footbeds but I was fitted by a boot fitter. I’m 5’8” 140lbs.
