Powder Skis.

I'm not sure what powder skis to get. I'm considereding hellbent, jj, arg and bibby. I'll be using these in the backcountry, powder and some big mountain. The only fat ski that i've been able to look at was the ep pro and they were way to soft for me so how do the ones i want compare to the ep in stiffness/other stuff. Any other suggestions for fat skis??

I'm 6'2 - 165lbs.

I have a pair of EPs and hellbents. The EPs are alot harder to ride. I love the hellbents though. Super fun, super stable, and super sexy.

at your size, you need a big rocked ski, look into the 189 hellbent, 195 praxis powder boards, or 202 lotus 138s. 185 jj and 186(?) bibby will be too short
as for the hellbents performance on groomers, they are definitely the best besides the jjs, they have some camber underfoot, so they actually ski pretty well, just really short

the hellbents are a mid to soft flex ski though stiffer than the ep pros they are still pretty soft if you want one for charging pow and big mtn i would look at the arg cuz it is a stiffer rockered ski the bibbys are stiffer than ep/hellbent though not as fat as the others but a good ski for backcountry jibbing and such, it just depends the hellbent wont be as good if your charging big mtn but for deep pow in the trees and drops the hellbents are a good choice they are suprisingly stable on hard pack (not ice) and so are moments, the args not so much though they have an sidecut to get to the lift, ep not so great on hard snow

Nope.

I'm 6'4" and about 190lbs. I ride 185 JJs. They're not too short.

I WOULD prefer them a LITTLE bit longer, but the 185 works surprisingly well.

your must lilke short skis then, because you have me by 5 inches and 30lbs and i will never by a ski under 190 again, let alone a rockered ski

Actually I DON'T like short skis. JJs are the shortest ski I've ever skied on. I have always been on 190+

I kind of wish that Armada made them in a 188 though like last year.

I was just trying to help the guy out because my JJs are sick for powder, and they're a fun ski, that's all.

Can't help you there man, cause I've never been on Bibbys or Bents.

The JJs are nice though, a little softer then what I'm used to, but seem to hold up pretty well at speed so far. When I get a solid resort day on them I'll let you know.

thats your personal preference. so let other people make their minds up on the jjs if you don't even have them or ridden them.

im sorta leaning towards hellbents because they're fatter, they long, and the jjs sound really good just not long enough. i also hear your supposed to have skis longer than you for powder.

I have salomon rockers and they are pretty sweet. But not for the timid. Stiff. But if you are using them more exclusively for big mtn then I would consider them. I also rode Big daddys and this years have a early rise tip and ski kinda similar. Maybe a little more tame but get real fun the faster you go. I'm about 6' 4" 185 so a little bigger then you.
