Powder skis on rails

just curious how many of you use hellbents or ep pros or skis similar to these on rails, and if any of you actually prefer to use skis like these on rails rather than traditionally cambered park skis, and why. sorry if this is a repost i searched and found nothing.

i have a pair of ep's and i love taking them through the park. handle fine on rails and jumps. a bit slower on in runs though but nothing bets a big steezy one over a big jump. i dont ride them all the time in there but still fun every now and again

i only take my bents into the park, and on rails after a long day of skiing pow..they are pretty damn fun in the park though.

i hit the odd rail on my pow skis (Moment Bibby's), but not very often (the odd day on my way down to the base of the mountain I'll hit a rail or two on my way past the park). I find them bulky and heavy, plus I don't want to blow out an edge, so I just stay light on my feet and don't try anything fancy.

That being said, I just mounted a new pair of Green Lifes that I do believe are going to become my park skis. They're not uber fat (100 underfoot), but pretty fat for a "park" ski.

The fattest ski i ride in the park are s3's. (98 underfoor with a lil rocker) But my coach at MHSSC was hitting everything on hellbents and seemed to be doing just fine

.

I've slid fallen trees on my EPPs, but NEVER would I touch them to metal. They get all the damage they need from rocks, anyway.

i have two pairs of hellbents, and one of them is so trashed from rocks and trees that i try them on rails every now and then. to everybody who does use them in the park, do you feel like you have to change the way you do rails on them because of how theyre shaped or because of their weight? and also any tips for using them on rails and cool stuff you can do with them? such as presses?

I ride blends in the park and that is only 100 under foot. I cant imagine using a ski any wider than that in the park but some people kill it on powder skis on rails.

well i did not have park skis until yesterday, so i was forced to use chopsticks in the park all this year.

It sucks, they are bulky, and terrible for landing jumps.

But once and a while its fun, especially when there is pow, but not enough for it to be a pow day and the park is open!

I loved my Lizzies in the park, and I copped some cheap One Lifes, so I'll lap the park with them some times.

bacons are my park skis...115 underfoot doesn't feel that strange, and i've definitely heard about 2000 people say that they use hellebents as their everyday all mountain ski, no questions asked. Personally I am really not concerned about ruining my skis, the way I see it, they're made to be destroyed. thats what p-tex is for anyways.

I rode my first pair of EPs in the park quite a bit. I liked them alot. Lizzies are my every day park ski.

Basically, if it fits how you ski pow skis can be super fun in the park.. BUT avoid JJs, Chetlers, Blogs if you dont get a mega discount because they have really narrow edges.. My Chetlers will not be sliding any metal.

this! lol
Yeah I ride my bents in the park but I get pissed off a lot because the swing weight is a pain in the ass. If I try to do a switch up (I use 189 and only weigh 140ibs) I typically can't swing them the opposite way and fall then flipshit...

yeah i use my bents on rails. 189s. theyre fun. saw fujas and mahre do it in IDEA, and it made me want to as well haha.

I ride my bents in the park occasionally. Their width makes them really stable on rails even though their swing weight is kinda hard to play with.

i'm just back from a week of teaching skiing in italy, i did everything on my EP pros, i took the kids through some powder, i taught them how to carve, i taught them 360 boxslides, 180s and 360, butters, etc...
the big boss from the youth camps organizations always skis at least one run with his monitors so he can verify if they can actually ski well ...
first run on my EP Pros, he was on some rossi carvers behind me, at the end of the run he asked if he could ski them for a run because they looked so much fun! :)
ended up getting listed as one of his prime monitors, so i'm probably only getting experienced skiing groups from now on! :)
so long story short, i loved my ep pros everywhere on the mountain (except on steep ice they are kinda scary)on rails and boxes it kinda hurt my heart, but i just had to try em out and they handled fine !
that being said, i would never whip em out on a parkday, but if i'm skiing them on an ok day, i wouldn't hesitate to take em through the park !

k sorry for the dumb question haha, but anybody have any tips for doing presses with hellbents on a rail? i feel like it is too soft in the nose/tail, and slides off the rail if that makes sense.

lizzies are more or less a park ski, just a fat park ski. they're my only ski and unless there is pow i ski pretty much only rails.

Night trains are pretty fun in the park. Havent used them a ton on rails but they were fun. Still would prefer a narrower ski for everyday park riding but on pow days where you can take a run through the park they work great.

I see this shit at Brighton every time I go there.

In Utah, we refer to these people as "Surface Faggots." Typically seen wearing tight pants, goggles over hoodies, and being super hesh.

my friend uses bacons as his only ski and hits up the park often.
so yeah, it works if youre willing to risk blowing out an edge on good skis

Saw a guy inline at crystal with a HUGE pair of rockered pow skis and it was icy as hell today, only thing i could figure was he was in the park with them...for....some reason. Definately wouldnt want to use them on hard pack

one lifes are marketed as an all mtn ski. If he was an insult to skiing its one thing, but if he could throw down, another story, Either way, you're a yuppie biatch for judging him on his skis... honestly..... not everyone can afford that 9 pair quiver like you .... SKIS are SKISyou seem like a douche

i take my eps in the park at the end of the day. do some slow 1's, but i only hit boxes with them cause i think they wont get as screwed up?

and any stevens pass locals, trev im pretty sure uses eps, or he did before i moved, and he would kill it in there.
