hey im picking skis out for my dad, he's like 55 and maybe 5'8. he's a good skier, hes' been skiing since he was like 15.

he wants some new pow skis, he isnt a super strong skier, so he needs something with maybe a medium flex, lightweight, and not super long. so pretty easy to ski skis. he wants to try something with rocker probaly, its gonna be a mainly powder ski cause he has hardpack skis, he was looking at the czars, which seem good, but what else would you say he should look at?

Well, the czars reviewed quite awesomely, so you could get him those for rocker.

I would go with the bacons though, they've reviewed so well, and everyone loves them. Besides, how could you not like them with the artwork?

I'd say bacons if he's wanting the rocker, they're flex isn't very stiff.

And I read an S6 above, baad idea. Those skis are made for charging and are way stiff

stay away from bacons or JJ's they don't ski or feel at all like a traditional ski and would probably just feel weird to him.

For fat skis for the older people my suggestions are solly czar, Line prophet 100, K2 Obsethed, and Rossi s6 and s7.

and for the guy who said that the s6 is a burly charging ski: Have you ever felt a real charging ski? Feel the B squad, the XXL, and the solly Labs. Those are charging skis, the s6 is a wider s5 (Scratch BC)

Czar or Obsethed or older seth/seth vicious would get my nod. Also maybe consider a scott p4.....

for people saying jj's and bacons, realize that he is not asking what your favorite powder ski is but what powder ski would work well for his dada, due to the design and construction of the jj's and the bacons, the way they ski is very different then most older people are used to, and infact they are often much happier on other skis fat skis. This has been show at on snow demos. you give a guy a couple runs on a prophet 100 and a few on the bacons durring a powder day and 9 times out of ten then like the prophet 100 better. for rockered skis the same goes s7 vs. JJ.

My friend rides a pair of Vokl Mantras in pow pretty hard and he absolutely loves them. Might be a good ski to look at, but from what I have heard about the Czar I would be really excited to give them a try.

i completely agree.. although for the guys pops who wants and easy to handle ski, the 100 might be a bit stiff, a charger non the less

i saw above a suggestion for the P4 that would be a pretty good bet for an older guy, buuut no rocker

My dad is the same, he is just a little younger at 46. He was used to powder skiing in the Swiss Alps and I got him the Prophet 100's last year and he loves them. They take only a few runs to get used to but he really really likes them now and its Line, so you know its good. Hope that helps bro, good luck.

Great call to ask a bunch of 15 yr olds.

I'd say a Coomba in an 181 if hes a smaller guy, 188 if hes a decent skier and above 5'8".

Neutral, Great even flex, and light to boot.

My dad is kind of like that, he just picked up some apache outlaws for this year. They are a good carving all mountain ski, 92 underfoot, good for pow but also versatile.

You definitely know what's up.

These would be a great ski for him. Not super fat, stiff flex, they would be a blast for him probably.

Or some Moment Ruby's, Garbones, M1's or some of last years JJ's. Last years JJ's were mad light and had a very traditional shape, with very little sidecut. I can't remember the flex of them but I do remember they felt like a solid ass ski.

if your dad doesnt ski switch go with the pontoons they re really easy on the legs compared to other pow skis

Pm gear 183 bro model soft flex

or the 186 Lhasa pow in a soft flex.

I'd go that route and hope he kicks them down to you eventually

i don't know where you live and what you consider powder skiing. but still i am guessing that your dad doesn't want to ride switch in powder or do butters. so i'm not even sure if he'd need a rocker.

maybe a zero camber ski thats rather soft would do the same in powder for him but still give him control for the way from/to the stashes

or you just pick a medium flex ski with a small rocker
