Powder ski to replace hellbents

Right now for my pow skis i have 169 helbents. Iv grown a bit and there a tad small for me now with all the rocker and what not. So im looking for a ski to replace it.

I am 5ft 6 110.

I want a ski that will float and i will never have to worry about tip diving.

I want a ski is maneuverable in tight spots and trees.

I want a light ski (hellbents are heavy)

Lower the swing wight the better (booters)

I was thinking about the 175 jj's or the 178 opus.

Thanks + k for answers.

The 2 your thinking of will be good, maybe look at the Salomon Rocker 2. Sounds like you would like it, there light, low swing weight and float great. Best thing to do though would be to demo them. Find a shop which has a few your after, try them out then buy your fav.

Yeah the rocker 2's are just a little too big at 180 and too small at 170. Im trying to avoid demoing becasue its a powder ski and i dont want to waist a pow day going back to the car every few runs to swap skis.

Moment night trains?

Rowen 181 caylors are a bit stiff for me i want to do some nymbus style butters and shit. Maby if you sold me that pair for 100 bucks back when i asked...

$100? Hahah, the new pair I thought were demo's with an old mount?

Something like a Lite would be better for sure, but with large and stable enough rocker sections, you can really butter on just about anything.

Dude I feel bad jumpin in here cause ginko is all kindsa legit and ya don't see anybody from line jumpin in to help ya....but I'll tell ya I have the opus...really good ski with soft tips and stiff tails...it'll rock 360 slashes perfect and the stiff tails are super stable on landings.....however I have not tried spinning at height on em yet...should be fine but I'm mounted right on the midsole line and they feel jus a touch long out front...that said though they have light tips so swing weight should be a big issue....they shine all mountain though....like they friggin destroy hard stuff....I dunno...my fav ski....but the on3ps are decent too...I've heard nothin but good things about em.

I've heard night trains are a tad on the heavy side for someone so concerned about weight. Also, they flex kinda stiff for a powder jib ski. The bent chetlers look real dope though, I've been looking at those myself.
Oh I just remembered, als ski barn has 2010 ep pros for $430. Those sound about perfect for you. Unsinkable, lightweight, manuverable (early taper+monster rocker), and very very soft. they also have the 2011 models for a bit more. The 2011 models are a tad stiffer, but still the most butterable ski on the market, and they also have a touch of camber underfoot for getting back to the lift. They also have slanted sidewalls as opposed to vertical, to reduce chipping. Just my .02

I wouldn't give up my jjs for anything, the 185 would be manageable as a deep day ski, and be mad stable at speed, might be a little stiffer than ur looking to be honest

nighttrains are not heavy but they are stiff not as stiff as bibs

ghost chants have bamboo and more rocker than the night trains and are symmetrical. the combo of bamboo and rocker will make them super playful, and light

sorry for the thread jack, dont want to clot GT with similar threads, this might be of interest to you aswell.

how do the 194 rocker 2s and the AK JJs compare? anyone skid both? im 6 ft 2 and weigh around 180 lb. want to do jibby BC kickers, bit of trees and long wide turns in open powder. having felt the rocker 2s in the 184? length the rocker seemed very gradual and tip dive might happen. idk how rockerd the AK jjs tips are. so anybody skid both of these skis?

^^^ the benchetler is a way more versitle and imo better ski than the ep pro ^^ u shouldn't have tip dive problems with either of those, the akjj is a bit stiffer, but both r super poppy, I would say because of its comparative stiffness, the ak jj would handle chop better, and be overall more versitile, whild the rocker 2 would be more playful

old eps or the opus? HUGE difference. If you want a more aggressive pow ski for sure look at the opus. If you are looking for fun, go for the ep pro

179 one lifes. My 189's are so light and they ski super short. They are perfect for trees. inb4 Surface hate, I know, the quality isn't quite there, but they are an awesome pair of sticks.

Depends on how aggressive u r, I mean they r big for u, but it is a pow ski, and if u can handle big skis fairly easily then go for it, if u don't know u might wanna demo something around the same size if u can't find the benchetlers

If you could handle 183cm bentchetlers you would be fine on caylor lites.

stock caylors would be too stiff though.

if you cant get a 115 to float you need to learn to ski.and you realize 169 bents and 175 jjs are the exact same size almost right?

I really don't think it's that he's worried he won't get it to float. I think it's more about it floating no matter what he does, so that he doesn't even have to think about it.

I personally love my EP Pros (09/10) for playful powder skiing, but once it get chopped up (or basically anything but fresh pow) they get to soft and tend to bouce around too much, so I need a stiffer ski next time I'm getting pow skis (I'm a heavier guy, 190ish)

I think you should take a closer look at 181 caylor lites though. Everybody seems to be raving about caylors, so they might be worth a try for sure.

well if you want nimub style ones why not look at their pro models? like ep and bent chetler

i absolutly love my bent chetlers i mean if chris, sage, dana, tim, and who knows else ride them i think they speak for themselves

Based on your criterea the DPS lotus 138 is the ski you want.

Whether you have the $$$ to go full carbon or can handle a 192cm cause they dont make this ski in weinie sizes. IDK.

The lotus 120 would also be a good choice if you didnt want to go reverse/reverse and comes in a 178 in 3 flexes.

at your size i would get something skinnier to keep the swing weight down.2012 line sfb 178 sounds good. if you want softer get the opus.

i would reccommend on3p jeffrey but they are stiffer than you want and only come in a 186.

the bentchetler is gonna be more directional and stiffer than the opus, though not by a lot.

and im not sure but i think a caylor lite will be stiffer than the bentchetler, opus, and bacon.

and night trains are very stiff for a jib ski, as said before.

a jj is like a mini bent chetler but it is a little stiffer.

i would get a jj or bacon but if you really wanna sacrifice swing weight for a little more float get the bentchetler or opus.

another good ski would also be a 178 bluehouse maestro. about the same flex as a jj or bent chetler, good amount of rocker too
