Powder ski sizing help

Next year my friends and I are planning to make a big trip out west to ski some real mountains. So I am looking to pick up a pair of powder skis over the summer, I am currently looking at getting a pair of fatypus i rock's since there is a crazy deal on them right now. M problem is is that I have never bought a pair of powder skis before and don't know if I should go with the 186 cm or the 176 cm. If it helps I currently ride a pair of 178 cm j skis, I am 6' 2'' and 200 lbs.

Also I normally mount all of my skis on center since I ride a lot of park. Would it be better to mount them center or 2 cm back of center?

If anyone has any experience riding the i rock's I would appreciate some info on them since I haven't been able to find many recent reviews of them.

126 underfoot is a big ski if you're not a regular powder skier and are just getting them for this trip. That being said, go with the 186s.

I also wouldn't mount them in front of the recommended point, especially since the they're going to be pretty close to center already. That's just me though.

I am hoping to be able to use them more than just on this trip. I know 126 is a big step up from what I have now, but they are only 275$ so I figured you can't really go wrong. Do you have any other suggestions though for a decent priced powder/all mountain ski?

im your size and would never look at a powder ski under 186cms! Also, id try to find something else honestly. 126mm is waaaaaaaay overkill. Have fun skiing those in anything under 2 feet of blower. Try to stay around 115mm imo.

That said, I have some 187 4frnt YLEs for sale. 200 bucks. They are in great shape too.

ok thanks, i thought they may still be alright since there is camber underfoot. that being said i don't really have much experience skiing anything bigger than about 90 mm waist.

also what year are they?

126 underfoot is too big for anything other than deep deep snow.

I ski a blizzard gunsmoke as my every day ski in the PNW at 114 underfoot and wouldn't go any wider.

also, unless you seriously suck at skiing there is absolutely no excuse for someone your size to ski a 178.

So would something like the kartel 106 or the salomon rocker 2 108 be better?

Don't mount it at center that will be a ton of work, they have the factory rec way back so it's easier to float and stuff. If def go with a 186 if I were you also

Those would be much better options, and you'd be able to use them every time you go west, and every once in a while at your home mountain too.

Nothing under a 185

This should help! Im 6'2" 225lb and have also just bought my first powder ski.

My do-it-all ski (all mountain backside) is 186cm and its absolutely amazing to ski, literally goes anywhere without a problem.

The powder ski i just bought is 193cm! What you have to remember is that powder skis are heavily rockered, making the effective length on piste much shorter (mine is 45% rockered so actually skis like a child ski on piste!) so you won't actually notice the extra length until you're blasting through the pow, where you'll really notice the float caused by rocker.

And screw centre mounting, if anything but them back a couple centimetres if you're ONLY using them in pow. Although id just go with factory recommendation for ultimate versatility.
