Powder Poles

Im 5'10" and decided I was gonna cut these scott 52" poles down for powder. I plan to be doing a lot of freestyle in the backcountry, but im a little new to the pow game, im sure theyre a bit taller than the poles i use in the park but i wouldnt think you would want them that long if youre gonna spin, im not exactly sure what size would be good for me. any feedback would be great. P.S. sorry for making so many threads recently im just trying to get all my shit together before the season starts... Im usually a huge procrastinator about that stuff.

those are WAAAYYYY to big. I admit I dont know what size you should use but I do know that im 6'5 and mine are about that size and fit very "traditional"

Yeah i know theyre too big haha my problem is im going to cut them down and dont know what length would be best.

i'm 5'8 mine are 40 and they feel nice, i think i might cut them shorter though. but when you make sure you remeber you can always cut more off, but you cant put it back together.

thats so true. im 5'10" and for pow i was guessing in the 44" to 42" range so maybe ill start at 44 and work my way down

i cut em down to about 39 just because it felt good. i have another pair tho. if these are too short ill just cut them for park

Just measure them out to traditional, and then cut down a little bit to what seems comfortable. My powder poles are about 6 inches shorter than traditional.

Just remember that having poles that are too short for a lengthy traverse are a lot worse than having poles that seem a little too long for spinning off a booter.

I'm 5'10" and would have left them 44" to start. As stated above you can always make them shorter if you think they're too long. But too short can make things a bitch.

yeah i hear ya. i have another pair of scotts that still need to be cut down. my initial intension was to make one my park pole and the other for pow so ill probably cut the other ones higher

Somebody on here created an algorithm for finding perfect pole length. It's probably not relevant to powder skiing, but +k regardless.

im 5'10 and have adjustable poles that i use when im skiing pow, so ive played around with different lengths quite a bit. I normally ski them at 100cm long for park, 105cm for general pow riding, and sometimes ill bump them up to 110-115 for bigger lines. So id say anywhere 105-110cm should be good. Which would be like 41-42 inches

Your around my height im 5'11 and use 125-120cm poles your freeriding. It helps so much for your stance if you have a pole you can actually use in the powder.

Generally cut them long and then go shorter if you feel you need. You can always cut down poles but you cant make them longer.

well the "traditional" length that you would find on a pole chart for 5'10'' is 48'' poles but i know i prefer mine shorter. Im 6'1'' and i use 48'' poles for regular skiing and 40'' for the park

for pow poles i like the length to be the length were my arms are dangling at my sides and my wrists are bent at a 90 deg angle and my palms are on the top of the poles. if that makes sense
